It's not permanent,

yet happiness does last long --

as a memory.
Aphorism by Karel Boullart: Geluk is een kort genot en een lange herinnering (Happiness is a short pleasure and a long memory)

Collection "Stall"
We both sat in different cities when our conversation started,
not chasing sparks,
just tired souls
looking for soft places to rest.
No promises hung in the air,
no games, no veiled agendas—
just a quiet click,
like puzzle pieces long lost
now found in the same box.
You asked what I’m passionate about,
and I didn’t hold back.
You didn’t flinch at the messy parts.
You shared your own—
not for pity, not for drama,
just truth,
and I listened like I’d been waiting
to hear you all my life.
We laughed about bad jokes,
Talk over what we each had for dinner,
traded secrets like childhood treasures
buried too deep for most to see.
For once, I didn’t feel like explaining myself
was a chore.
And you—
you didn’t try to fix me.
You just listened,
like you knew the weight of it too.
I don’t know where this is going—
if anywhere.
But for tonight,
your voice is a light in a room
I forgot needed one.
And that’s enough.

I said to your Dad “I want a busy house”.

A home where we may have slept in on a weekday, then we’re rushing to grab a bite of toast before we’re stuck in traffic trying to get you to school on time.

A home where the laundry doesn’t always get done straight away and when it does we have sock fights and pray that the dog doesn’t end up going back to the vets to rescue one of the pair.

A home where you’ll try to eat what you can from your plate and we won’t mind if you snack later in the day. In fact we won’t mind if you wake us up to go on a midnight feast adventure in the middle of the night.

A home where you’ll be happy and grow up and maybe one day want to call your own.

I said to your Dad “I don’t want a busy house, I want a busy home”.

Forever searching
Whether healthy or hurting
Endlessly wondering
Admiring life, pondering
Hoping for my happy ending
Here or as a celestial being

A long lasting fever
Looking for my jewel
If my journey stops, ever
I've met my goal, I'll revel
Maybe never
Maybe forever...
