I live with
holy sunshine—

but I wake to weep.
In the sun,

shadows stretch
long behind me,

where some things ought to
remain buried.

I did not go digging you up.
Bees do not normally

nest in skulls—
but I know

they hum in your head,
dripping honey of me.

Gentle wolf,
you came in the guise

of a friend.
They tell me that they would have

rescued me
as you made your advances—

except
they were never there,

in your lair.
And by that time

I had already
been eaten.

All that exists
between us now

is a history;
the guilt that still

weighs on you,
and poetry.

And if your guilt ever becomes
too much for you to bear,

and if you ever feel like
confessing,

my poems can be
your Hail Mary’s.

Hail Mary full of grace
Tell me where you’ve been?
There smudges on my crucifix
And bruises on my chin.

Blessed is the fruit
that is rotten to the core.
Tell me what I want to hear
and I will bleed no more.

Bless the cross. Bless the sinners that worship. Forgiveness is necessary, excuses are accepted. Innocence in all. I crumble with it’s stare, with the weight of my beliefs. Religion equals no evil but you are still tied down. Tied down to the cross, it’s always there on the back of your head. The devil is accepting, the god is forgiving.

Now… hail Mary, hail Mary, hail Mary, hail Satan… hail Mary.

A poem about religion holding someone back.

Hail Mary
Full of Grace
The Lord is with You
Blessed are you among women
And Blessed is the fruit of your womb:
Jesus.
Holy Mary
Mother Of God
Pray for us Sinners
Now,
And at the hour,
Of our death.
AMEN.

Greetings Mary! You are filled by God's grace and his grace covers and surrounds you. You are hand selected by God to carry out his plan; blessed are you among all women! By the Holy Spirit you shall conceive while still a ******. Blessed is the fruit of your womb a son whom you shall name Jesus Emmanuel meaning God With Us.
Mary, mother of God made flesh, you are pure and holy in heart, spirit, and flesh. We pray to you now, to intercede for all of us sinners to your son today, every day of our lives and at the hour of our death. We ask this with humble hearts and we know you hear and intercede for us who seek your help. Thank you. Help our lives and our answers be a "yes" to God that all things may be done unto us according to your son's will. We ask this and all things in your confidence,
AMEN!
