there was a little dolphin he got lost at sea
he miles away from his family
caught up in a storm that was far to strong
took him from the place that he did belong
dolphin he was sad and he began to cry
noticed by a whale who was passing by
dolphin told the whale how he had got lost
and into the storm the dolphin he was tossed
whale he said dont worry i know what to do
i  will guide you back to the home that you once knew
whale he led the way to get  the dolphin back
when suddenly he saw some dolphins in a pack
he had found the place where dolphin he should be
happy once again with his family
dolphin thanked the whale for all that he had done
and swam of with his family underneath the sun

Dolphin With Hands
Sky Apr 2015
Did you see the dolphin with hands?
They grew from fins
and now he flips cakes,
serving them up for dozens of fans.

Did you see the dolphin with hands?
His keepers were shocked
when they saw the fingers,
long and gray with nails on the ends.

Did you see the dolphin with hands?
He can juggle, he can fight,
there is no one that he can’t smite.
Oh, and he makes houses out of sand.

Did you see the dolphin with hands?
Scientists are baffled,
doctors confused, because dolphins
shouldn’t be able to play in hair metal bands.

Did you see the dolphin with hands?
His name is Finn, despite the lack of them,
and he is a mutant fish
who can flip pans.
This is something I wrote for my creative writing class.
there was a little dolphin he was sad oneday
poor chap got lost he had lost his way
his sonar wasnt working no direction could he find
from the other dolphins he got left behind.

then a friendly whale he came swimming by
the little dolphin saw him and began to cry
whale he asked the dolphin why he was so sad
i have lost my way he said lost my mum and dad

dont worry said the whale just you follow me
i will take you back to where you long to be
of they swam together in the ocean blue
when whale he spotted dolphins coming in to view.

dolphin he was happy his sadness turned to glad
whale had found his family and his mum and dad
whale he said goodbye as he swam away
dolphin joined is family and never more did stray

FINFIN THE DOLPHIN

Poor Fin Fin, once was Fred's  favourite  toy dolphin;

But was now sadly rejected; and lying in a dustbin.

Thrown out it was because a drunk servant fed it a little gin.

A small rag-picker boy,  picked it up; from the dustbin.

washing it, wiping it;  now made it look new and clean.

As he was walking past a river, in it fell poor FinFin.

Sad was the lad, this was really bad; for now drowned FinFin.

A man, consoling him said, "grow n come up one day will, this dolphin".

Come Danny, would daily, our lil boy, to look for his FinFin.

To his astonishment great, one day he saw a big dolphin.

With glee he cried, as he saw it,  " look, here's my dear FinFin".

Days went by, with some food, he would daily feed FinFin;

Throw a ball at it, he would n return it back, would the dolphin.

Gathered people now to see this play; giving him money, in a bin.

Happily jump,  dance and spin around would,  FinFin .

During one such act, along with the ball, fell the lad as he did over-lean.

Promptly picked him up and brought him safely back, our cute FinFin.

Friends for ever they became; lil Danny and our cute FinFin, the dolphin.

Haiku is one of my favorite forms of short poetry.  I've been writing them since childhood.

I have read this poem in public on occasion but this is the first time it appears in print.

Spirit Dolphin

To be in tune in natures light
To be in touch and resonate
Intelligent communicate
Heartbeats of love and breath of life

Superior to human sight
Your sound waves and reverberates
To be in tune in natures light
To be in touch and resonate

You touch the stars and elevate
Our spirits to become alight
Giving us freedom to ignite
Centers begin to emanate
To be in tune in natures light

Beneath the sun, beneath the moon
You teach us how to breathe with care
Oceanic friend, solar flare
Communicating our monsoon

Teaching in us how to commune
Opening our minds to beware
Beneath the sun, beneath the moon
You teach us how to breathe with care

Your innocence rests like lagoon
On the surface emotions bare
Vulnerability is there
Beneath the sun, beneath the moon

A good omen to protect us
Saving the lives of so many
Selfless creature giving plenty
From outer space some do discuss

To touch you frees us from raucous
To ride with you fulfills empty
A good omen to protect us
Saving the lives of so many

With you we find our playfulness
Self-confidence more than any
Never to lose our assembly
Connect us all with inner trust
A good omen to protect us

Helping others finding our truth
To be One Universally
What might seem strange is certainly
A reflection upon our youth

Make bright our eyes with wisdom's root
Free from shame inadvertently
Helping others finding our truth
To be One Universally

Though we may taste forbidden fruit
What we will learn so artfully
Forgives our aches so perfectly
Flipping through curious pursuit
Helping others finding our truth

A graceful water weaving dolphin
swirls wakes of gentle waves -
a white, silver blue phantom
shimmering in the noonday sun.

Piercing the surface,
she dances an aquatic ballet
of corkscrew pirouettes
and majestic somersaults.

Diving beneath the spray
she churns her engine upward -
soaring through the flaming hoop
to the "oohs" and applause
of a throng of short-sleeved hominids
bleachered beyond the rails.

Plunging into quiet depths,
she lingers for a moment
perhaps to recall the fresh sea air
and the borderless waters
in the golden days before the ships came.

there was a little dolphin he lived in the sea
while swimming in the ocean he made friends with me
he was very friendly as gentle as can be
he started doing tricks a clever chap was he.

jumped up in the air and stood up on his tail
skimming through the waves he began to sail
then i got  hoop and held it way up high
dolphin he jumped through high up in the sky.

suddenly my feet got stuck in to the sand
dolphin he was watching and gave a helping hand
he dragged me with his tail till my feet were free
then he waved goodbye and headed back to sea.

i think about the dolphin who made friends with me
there inside my memory he will always be.
