I've always put my lovers
into a pen

Fuel for fire
Ink for words.

But no,
Those were not love
Not like this

For this is love:
the fire itself
and it has burned away all my pages;
previous chapters, titles and cover
Stripped bare
As it should

So here I stand in this raw rarity,
Speechless
While it burns and
burns and
burns

And I have never been happier
To  watch flames
grow higher.
I have never been happier
To feel your warmth.

IN THE RIPENESS OF TIME

      You are too impatient
      you can't wait
      you move too quickly

      you frighten
      the bird of happiness

      it eludes you
      It flies away
      (and you wonder why)

      be still
      lie quietly
      under the tree
      (the abode
      of that winged singer)

      just be calm
      and still
      be empty
      expect nothing
      feel the wind
      that passes by
      touch the flowers
      at your feet
      hold the rays
      of sunshine
      in your palm
      say to your heart:
      be patient
      what's the hurry?
      the day has just begun
      let the moment unfold
      in its richest beauty

     and
    suddenly
    while not hoping
    nor expecting
   like a dream
   awakening

    (a miracle happens)

     that bird gently
      descends
      from the tree
      and leaves you
      with its blessing
      '  this is your turn
         now live and be happy'

John Clare
I saw her crop a rose
Right early in the day,
And I went to kiss the place
Where she broke the rose away
And I saw the patten rings
Where she o’er the stile had gone,
And I love all other things
Her bright eyes look upon.
If she looks upon the hedge or up the leafing tree,
The whitethorn or the brown oak are made dearer things to me.

I have a pleasant hill
Which I sit upon for hours,
Where she cropt some sprigs of thyme
And other little flowers;
And she muttered as she did it
As does beauty in a dream,
And I loved her when she hid it
On her breast, so like to cream,
Near the brown mole on her neck that to me a diamond shone;
Then my eye was like to fire, and my heart was like to stone.

There is a small green place
Where cowslips early curled,
Which on Sabbath day I traced,
The dearest in the world.
A little oak spreads o’er it,
And throws a shadow round,
A green sward close before it,
The greenest ever found:
There is not a woodland nigh nor is there a green grove,
Yet stood the fair maid nigh me and told me all her love.

You're shouting at me
Your words cut through me like fragments
Fragments of glass
The temperature in the room is rising
I feel the heat approaching
I need to leave, escape.

I turn round and put my back to you
You grab my arm, pulling me over
So I see your face
Your eyes, the colour of water
Convince me to forgive you
Your words change, they start to extinguish the inferno

The fire is out, all that's left is smoke
Clinging to the walls of my heart
Masking all the burns I have
From all that you've put me through
Your true reflection I loathe
But I forever want to be blinded by the smoke

Wanderer
The sun shone day in and day out
working all through the night
to keep the moons light alive

The sun became lonely all by himself in the sky
with only a few clouds floating by
Whilst the moon had stars a million
shining through the night to keep her company

The sun couldn't help but feel like maybe
she didn't need him
maybe all that effort he put in
was nothing more than wasted energy

Slowly he exited
each night giving her a little less light

She began to shrink
curling in on herself
until she faded completely

What the sun didn't realize
was that although there may be other stars around
he was the only one for her

I want to feel the warmth of her body next to mine. I want to feel the softness of her kiss.I want to hold her hand in the snow. I want to hold her in my arms and never let her go. I want to look into her eyes in the moon light glow. I want to never let her go. I want to let her know how much she means to me.

I see now
what they say
how love
smacks you
in the face

like an inevitable
falling leaf
or
how the moon
pulls at the
waves

love is un-
controllable
and can't be
cut away
and only
grows
incessantly with
your
every embrace
