I wasn’t always sure about you
I had my doubts and fears
I wasn’t always certain
That you would really be there
When I needed a friend
More than anything else
I’ve learned, though
That you are someone special
Someone rare and essential
To my heart’s quest for love
Love that survives and thrives
Overcomes the worst of times
Continues to grow and prosper
Long after struggles and worries
You are someone I can trust
Someone who understands my thoughts
Someone who cares and shares
Someone who knows me
Like no one else can
You are someone I can believe in
Someone rare and aware of my heart
Someone who accepts me as I am
Without conditions or limits
You love without bounds
You are the person I turn to
When I need a real friend
Someone who I can be myself with
Without fear or anxiety
Without hiding my heart away
Without even a hint of doubt
I love you and am so thankful
To have a friend who I believe in
Thank you, once again
For being that friend

I always reach for you
When the night seems too long
It feels like you should be there
Lying where you always were

I want to hold your hand
Feel your fingers tighten
Around my own tentacles
Two hands cleaving as one

Since you’ve been gone
The walls listen to my sobs
And seem to whisper of grief
That edges my very soul

Missing you is like a nightmare
Where I never truly wake
It leaves me feeling sluggish
Even during the sunniest days

I often wonder if I will ever find comfort
Amid the pain of my memories
Will I ever look through the old photographs
And caress the heart of what could have been?

Missing you is a tragedy
That keeps me grasping
For the pieces of the past
Which frequent my thoughts
Without you, I think
Am I really me?

His eyes are growing dimmer
He doesn't romp and play so much
Although he is still a beggar
His eyes are growing dimmer
They're almost the color of azure
He does still love my touch
His eyes are growing dimmer
Now his paws don’t seem to clutch

Autumn colors of gold and orange
Uninhibited by the emerald charms
Touching hearts with amazing ease
Uniting minds who long to please
Miracles floating through the sky
Nurturing feelings that simply pass by

He whispers to me inside my dreams
A familiar voice with love that brings to me
All of those feelings that were so common when
It was just him and me, our dog and our bliss

I find myself talking to him of every day things
Just like when we used to be the best of friends
I say that I’m cooking our favorite meals
And then going to watch a movie entitled “Ghost”

It was his movie, the one that touched his heart
And it could send shivers through anyone’s spirit
All about a couple who were forced to live apart
One in the world and the other in the world to come

Now when I dream and awake with a start
I feel him near me, almost like a soft touch
But what truly sends shivers along my spine
Are the words dido he speaks from the other side

Faint stillness of the night falls swiftly down
and masked raccoons now pillage darkest night.
Fluffed owls with sparkling eyes are flying free
and rabbits, gently moving, sniff the air...
The hounds - from hunter lost - do bay and whine!
Marked deer with spots or racks go pawing trails
and bear cubs ramble near a sparkling stream.
Uncommon moths blink near the lights outside
and possums scramble up the hillside earth.
Soft light of moon obscures the beauty there
and adds romance to this nocturnal scene.
Amid the forest’s trees of pine and oak,
these charms display the gift of God’s design!

The mornings create renewed hope
As lovers make plans to elope
And friends discover how to cope
Which contours a kaleidoscope
Of vibrantly affected dreams
Delightful colored potentials
From wondrous heavenly angels
Removing cruel, harsh troubles
Reassuring lost self-esteem

The afternoons bring enriched faith
The kind that makes you feel so safe
The sort that fills your heart with praise
As conviction teaches and conveys
Beliefs that assure fearful souls
Inspiring comfort which fulfills
With good knowledge in sweet idylls
Reminding hearts that dream instills
And moving souls to reach their goals

The twilights arouse revived love
The type that makes you reach above
The feeling that’s calm like a dove
Shows two fit as one like a glove
True love is without conditions
And gifts the spirit with vision
Prepares the mind for decision
These feelings craft true precision
Consoling sore inhibitions

Painting past midnight
Colors bleed on the paper
Capturing people
Giving each one breath and life
Touching a heart with love’s hue

I saw you looking in the mirror again today
You can’t seem to go past one
Without taking a second glance
Your own image seems to impress you
As if you were really in love
With the one staring back at you
You never seem to notice me
Watching you as you pass the mirror
And you seem almost a narcissist to me
Who only sees how you prance and primp
Staring long and hard at your appearance
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen
Another look so long or endearingly
Into that looking glass where we all see
Ourselves staring back at us
Could it only be me or are you actually
In love with what you see
Looking back from your reflection
And it is a little troubling to me
When I see you speak to yourself
Long moans of yearning
Puppy, I know you long to believe
That puppy in the mirror
Is your brother or sister!

Drenching rains fall on
A colorful leaf lined lane
Leaving clear liquid puddles.

The silence of fall
Beckoning through the naked limbs
That reach, waving, for the sky.

Speeding along a curved road
Eyes watching the asphalt’s twists and turns
I happen upon a substantial rock
Lying along the road on my course
It takes a few seconds for me to realize
That big brown rock isn’t what it seems
The rock has a yellow neck, legs, a head and tail
That beckon me to stop despite what lies ahead
My reasoning forces me to ponder on it’s future
Will the next car around the curve stop for this comrade
Or will it be struck and left for dead?
I put my car in park and hurry to pick it up
One lonely turtle has found itself being removed
From the path of oncoming vehicles
Taken to the grassy side of the road
Facing the opposite direction
In hopes that it will find it’s way far from
The impending danger of traffic
Now, this one turtle has a better chance
At living out it’s life at it’s own slow pace
