We're a generation of destroyers and artists,
of sisters and brothers,
bleeders and leaders,
lovers and leavers.
We destroy what they create
and we create what we want.
We play dumb for their attention
and we fight for one dance.
We cut for our sorrows,
and we follow the heartbeats.
We admire who we idolize
and we leave the others behind.
We're a generation of standards and feelings,
so inhuman but human.
throwback to early 2014.

Soft cotton fingers
Gently lift my head
From rolling shoulders
Rising up like smoke,
A waking dreamless sleep.
Rest, wanderer
Be still.

Today, I'm a little lost
A little aimless wandering
A little stuck between here and there
Drifting effervescently
Ephemerally
Ghostly, almost
Gone

fig
smoke-sheet eyes, you
questioned me behind
a mesh divider
all my hot hard "no"s
all my parting throes -
terrifying, endless, and gaping.

you questioned,
and never answered
you opened me like
an underripe fig
I didn't understand
how a person
could pull me apart
too soon.
Now I mould
over, I bruise
and hug the wet,
black ground.
There is a time and a place for everything; in the absence of this, life falls out of balance and we succumb to the allure of alternate scenarios instead of crafting meaning in our current lives

It is possible to live
at a remove so mesmerizing
so glacial blue
the narrow crevasse
opening beneath
your careless toes
swallows you
grinding past - present - future
until there is no you
only time
       a tumbled moraine
                               a shrinking river.
Be well, my brother.
sometimes strength is not
how many weights you can lift at once
or the many burdens you can carry alone
not even how your heavy heart can still beat
sometimes, strength can simply be
waking, again and again,
facing the same agony each day
and yet still waking each morning
facing the sun and the rain
and being brave
