my greatest fear is that
you will always see me
as a child

my greatest fear is that
you are too far away to
ever be my peer

my greatest fear is that
i am a burden to you,
nothing more than a
mandatory activity

my greatest fear is that
all you see is my *******
like how
i only see your ****** attitude

my greatest fear is that
the gap will never
be closed

my greatest fear is that

-nine years is too long
please see me. please just be my friend. please don’t make me feel like ****.

you have the
nerve
to say that women are
squeamish

when we see blood
month after month

you say we are too emotional
to hold office,
too fragile
to be independent,
too unpredictable,
to be on our own

but you forget
we are bulletproof.

you forget
we have stamina
and fire inside of us

because we are fighting
twice as hard
to be recognized
as the amazing,
successful people we are.

we are fighting
to be seen
as more
than our appearance,
to be valuable
because of our brains
instead of our *****.

we are bulletproof.
I've been ogled too many times, and skipped because I am seen as less worthy to my male peers, and I'm angry and tired and I have to fight twice as hard when I am more qualified and ready to do a good job.

i cry so much
that by the time im done
i forget why i even started
crying is my body's way of
telling me i am still alive
but my existence is only making me
cry even h a r d e r

Simple
Yes simple
People like simple
I'd like to say that I like simple
But if I were to say that I did, would that make me simple?
A clock ticks time by tirelessly
Gears winding like twines of string
With quaint clicking quickly quieting
Until finally time stands still

Broken glass of a smooth clock face
Gears halting in deformity
Glistening shards like the sands of time
Ceasing in their downward flight

A once beating ticking heart of life
Now is lost within a sleepless night
Once a momentum to continued light
Now falls to the ringing silence's might

Time broken into shattered deaths
Until there is simply nothing left
Maybe you've guessed; my nightstand clock broke. It's not like it was an antique that belonged to my great grandmother or anything. Oh wait....

The funny thing about love is people are always trying to tell you how to feel it.

"You hardly know the guy, you can't be in love."
"You're too young to be in love."
We've heard it all before.
From my experience though,

Love has no time constraints.
Yes, love is complicated,
But it is also very simple.

I knew I loved him when
I heard him laugh for the first time.
when I watched his eyes light up,
while he talked about airplanes.

I knew I loved him
when he made me an egg volcano for breakfast
and we pretended to be his roommate's parents.
(even though I had never met his roommate before that)

I knew I loved him
when I sat across from him on the dock
and watched the starlight dance on his face.
when I felt like I could tell him anything.

I knew I loved him when
he told me he had to leave.
I knew there wouldn't be a spot missing
in my heart where he once existed.
But a spot that he still lived
and bloomed,
where my heart still throbbed for him.

Where I still smelled his cologne,
heard him laughing,
felt his lips pressed against mine.

I would cry,
boy would I cry.
But I knew I would love him forever.
