because when she was young,

people would ask her

"what superpower,

do you wish for?"

so without any hesitation

she replied "invisibility."

and then,

and then she grew up realising

it came true.
our thoughts are the ribbons
wrapped around the words like a bow
like a present of misgiving
that only the giving could bestow
it's hard to live with the living
when we die with what we know
it's the wit of the unwitting
it's the only gift we show
God bless the brittle ones
they have no anger, they have no guns
God bless the little ones
they are daughters, they are sons

God save them from our fate
they are new to the human traits
God save them from the wait
Lord take them straight to the gates

God bless the rising dawn
it's a new day for living on
God bless who's already gone
they are daughters, they are sons

God save them from our hate
they are new to these fateful straits
God save them from our weight
Lord take them straight to the gates
They don't know how it feels

to awake every morning,
and all they can wonder is
why they had even awoken

They don't know how it feels

to pick up all of their pieces,
and put them back together
but still feel like they're broken

They don't know how it feels

to say all that they can say,
and still feel like there's more
but every word has been spoken

They don't know how it feels

to go to sleep every night,
and the only hope they have
is that their eyes will not open

listening to the tune of the breeze
she sings to me through needles and leaves
nature's song can be seen in the trees
when they sway with me to her beat of ease
segregated churches
segregated souls
segregated fires
segregated coals

segregated freedom
segregated dreams
segregated whispers
segregated screams

segregated neighbors
segregated homes
segregated doorways
segregated zones

segregated people
segregated minds
segregated signals
segregated signs

segregated graveyards
segregated souls
segregated shovels
dig segregated holes
we fell like the leaves
blew away in the wind
a warm heart only believes
that love will never end

i should have known
there would come a day
when the winds would blow
and birds would fly away

a bare branch heaves
swinging in the wind
there's no warm reprieve
the cold is setting in
my aim is to put a face on the faceless
making statements for wasted cases
i take myself into forsaken spaces
all for the sake to escape those places

a fate to make shapes out of shapeless
creating grace on pages as my basis
a campaign to replace the fake embraces
leaving the traces that no eraser erases
remember the days of when we were younger
we thirsted from birth and we hunted with hunger
running and laughing under skies of thunder
we were sisters and brothers in a world of wonder
