I heard you.
That night when no one was around.
The whisper that reached my ear
when I was too drunk to comprehend.

I heard you.
That night on the railroad tracks.
The train blew its horn as you let the
words leave your lips.

I heard you.
The night in the front row at the race.
The cars drove by as the phrase managed
to roll off your tongue.

I hear you.
In this hospital bed after the truck had done it's damage.
And you repeat those words in your last breaths.
The last letter muffled by the beep that went on forever.

Cry my child, for one does not bury a child without burying a part of one's soul with it.
Cry, for one cannot comprehend the ways of God.
It is for us to wash away our painful confusion  with tears and then to carry on.
.
.
For yesterday is not today and today is not tomorrow
You are the truest part of me
When I close my eyes, it is not to sleep,
But to fade into a place where holding onto you keeps me sane and safe.
It is often called reality.
And any place where our love is stopped from flourishing
Is nothing more than an ill conceived nightmare.

I still have faith I'll wake up to a bouquet of your kisses, sweeter than any rose could hope to be.
Shredded cheddar cheese and a few jalapeños
on my hash brown potatoes
A generous dollop of ketchup with an iced tea chaser !
Live on the edge poet and poetess !
Admiring the monuments of May
The dance of hummingbirds on a -
most capital day
Her distant ,varying shades of green along  -
forest beltways
The sudden cry of sunshine from late -
afternoon cloud banks
North winds telling tales of stormy morrow
My scarlet , clover lover whispers sweet temptation ,
sorrow for yesterdays spice , hunger for the songs
of life , admiration at the shelf of Dawn , supplication -
to the Heavens above ..
