Words penned centuries ago
Comes alive each time we read
Taking us back to that moment
Holding hand of those words
And time travelling to the past era
Showing us vivid imageries
Of what the writer has gone through
Inspirations, triumphs, failures, heartbreaks
Solitude, travels and an insight to his world
Connecting with the soul
Through the words penned in indelible ink
Each page, a revelation
Still living in words and within the pages
Faint heartbeat of the distant past
Reverberates in each composition
Immortal through the words
And still holding the rich legacy
Antique words, relevant even today

I walked a lonely street
I heard the church bells chime
I felt out of rhythm
I felt out of rhyme

Then all of a sudden
a purse thief ran by me!
He took my slender purse!
All my money for the week!

Then as I walked farther
by a puddle lying there
a semi rushed right thru it!
Water everywhere!

Then as I continued
walking up the way
a mugger came up to me
wanting me to pay!

I had zero money
as the thief had snatched my purse
I thought, this is horrible!
It couldn't get much worse!

But, my friends, it did.
The mugger was enraged!
That I had no money
thought to put me in the grave!

So he up and shot me!
Yes, I tell you true.
He shot me in the chest
so a crimson flower bloomed.

The people all around me
would not help a whit!
Didn't want to be involved
so I had to sit

With blood flowing everywhere!
Then a man he happened by.
He heard my desperation
and listened to my cries.

He had little money
but what little he had did give
that I could find a taxi.
That I at last could live!

I was so very grateful
for his help that day
I asked him his name
and told him I would pray.

For he was a homeless man
I'd seen him around.
Always bright and cheery
never with a frown

He said, "Pray not for me my sister,
for I am not in need.
You pray for the others
For their dishonesty and greed.

They need your prayers, my sister.
Yes, they surely do.
Not only will it help them out
It will comfort you.

I never saw the man again.
He came 'round no more.
He was never at his daily haunts
by the old church door.

I did as he suggested
It was release to pray
I believe he was an angel

and I found Love that day

1 Corinthians 13
Also called The Love Chapter
I just read a poem by Weeping Willow
It inspired this

I really do pray for the people
Who hurt me. I get angry
At times and vent.
But generally I'm pretty happy.
I don't hold the
bitterness in my
HEART
So you say poems don’t sell
ain’t no buyer for your works
arduous hours of a job done well
go down the drain fetch no perks!

You’re right poems do don’t sell
though you fill them with heart’s spice
by the hour growing weary and frail
you surely can’t feel any nice!

A dollar a poem how fine it would be
add a dollar a read to it
but poems are meant to be sold just free
you aren’t to be paid for the feat!

But you’re wrong poems do sell
them the readers do buy
when to their heart your thoughts travel
and their spirit soars up sky high!

Eat breakfast.
One half hour less of sleep in the
Morning will keep you
Steady and strong until lunch.
It'll be worth it.
Oatmeal packs a good punch.

Don't mention how little
You've slept to anyone.

Unless you operate dangerous
Machinery or rely on being
Rested for the safety of
Yourself or others, no one
Will care.

Map the different nationalities
At your workplace.
Learn these phrases in their
Respective languages:

Hello.
Great work.
Watch out!
Making someone feel welcome at
Work is a gift worth giving.
Bridges build
Friendships. Friendships alone
Make a life worth living.

Spend some money on a
Special water bottle.

It'll inspire you to drink from it.
Drink enough to keep hydrated;
Not so much that your
Breaks interfere with your
Obligations.
Don't challenge your rights,
Or your boss' patience.

Leave the toilet looking a little
Nicer than it was.

Pick up that piece of paper.
Wipe the soap from the sink.
Aim carefully.
Others will follow your example.
Ask for hand disinfectant.
Use it.

If you feel overwhelmed by
Stress, or have personal matters
Occupying your thoughts,
Take a toilet break.

It is one of the best places on Earth to
Clear your head. Take only
The time that
You need.
Even brilliant minds have
To act to succeed.

Enough on toilets.

Fall in love with a colleague.
Don't ever follow up on it.

Pick a favourite secretary or
Cleaning lady, janitor or
Security guard, etc.
That warm sensation in your chest
When you see them, might just
Make a bad day better.
Theirs too, when you
Smile their way.
Just remember:
Harassment is for the weak and
Insecure; a little attention never
Hurt anyone,
But don't push for more.
Keep it innocent.
Keep it pure.

Find your least favourite co-
Worker. Make friends.

Start rehearsing that 'old buddy'-
Feeling when you see them.
Say hello. Smile.
You'll be in for a surprise in most
Cases. Trust me, you will find
Golden graces. You'll get to love
Them; you'll look for their faces.

Turn to your seniors.
They are a tremendous resource.
They deserve to be needed.
They deserve your respect.
They know how to repair more
Than we ever will.
They know what it's like
To be younger than them.
They'll have time for your
Questions,
But none to ****.

Quit smoking. Together.
Go for a coffee break.
Go for a fruit break.
Go for a water break.
Together.
Pat each other on the shoulder
With every smoke you don't have.
Take the stairs. You'll feel so well.
Quit in pairs.
Not in a shell.

Put up humouristic posters,
Tell jokes, make
Friendly fun of each other.
Anything that provokes laughter.

Time will fly. Bonds grow stronger.
You'll look forward to work. You'll
Live happier; longer.

Do more than just enough.
You'll feel so much better about
Your skills. And others about you.
Any job is worth that little extra.
Few are worth doing twice.
Judge your efforts through
Your own eyes.

Be poetry. Don't just write it.
You'll need less ink and paper.
The art will live forever.
You'll be thankful for more.
You'll think higher of yourself.
You'll see the world around you
As the beautiful place it can be.
Be the poet and the poem.

You'll never feel depressed.
You will never be alone.
You'll be the single richest person
That you have ever known.

For many years I loved you
Keeping my heart close at hand.
Since then I couldn't stand
Watching you run again and again
For fear of loving another man,

And I hoped I would feel you
If only to heal you
Yet you took it all away
And won't give it back.

And I know why you cry and all the reasons why you can't stop.
Praying for an end to the heart attacks and sudden drops.

So when the world comes crashing down,
You will see me once again
With a life near death
Loving you with a smile
Forever beyond the end
She died in March 2016.

diffused light
clouds muffle the sun
sky the color of
an inca dove's breast

atmosphere
clean as
rare water
pouring like a million
kisses over my face

streetlight
still lit
it's amber light
fills the globules
of rain hanging
upon the palo verde
they glow
from within

pavement
on the street
catching the globes
of luminous wet

the desert sighs

water

peeled the batter off my face

leaving nothing but

her vanilla touch

Never be afraid to be quiet,
For you don’t have to be the loud Extrovert:
Putting on a life and soul of the party act,
While secretly sad inside.

Just be yourself.
Be cool and calm, and of course, collected
As they say.
Be happy with yourself,
At peace with all the world.

Esteem yourself and others will esteem you too.
Be cool,
For that is cool.

Just feel that tranquil lake,
Within your mind:
Rippling gently in the moonlight,
Stirred only by a sighing breeze.

Then bask in golden sunshine,
Reclining on the shimmering sand.
A thousand summers all in one.

Engage with people
And listen
To all they have to say.
Then when the time is right
Make known your point of view.

Until that time,
Stay quiet…

So we say as we play, under moonlight or day
That we can learn to love and live oh,
I feel this movement now, creeping into my bones
My lungs inhale, I sing, Oh.

We have each other, at the end of the game
We don't worry about the scores as we play
We just twiddle the time, and write down these rhymes

So we laugh as we play, under moonlight or day
That we can learn to love and see oh,
I feel this now, this movement in my bones
My hips swing then I sing, Oh.

We have each other,
We don't worry,
We just twiddle the time
Write down these rhymes, Oh

So we say as we play....
That we can learn to love and live this love,
Oh yes.

(10 X 10)

What a prudent choice, to walk under the pouring rain,
enjoy its cool, refreshing comfort, touching, sliding down one's toes,
walk over the puddles, and spots that are so muddled ...
body, mind, clothes, soaking wet...stained, ingrained with stubborn dirt,
now, washed away...you, courageously surviving acid tests of life,
emerging cleansed, transformed, filled with more sense, wisdom and tolerance,
no more airs, just compassionate, sharing more, this time around...
It's like a new YOU, facing the same world, armed
with rekindled enthusiasm, an enhanced attitude, and fresh, newborn perspectives.

Be brave, be drenched with rain...let it cleanse you.
