The sun awaits
just beyond the horizon.
Time gets scarcer
as it bathes us
in its glow.
And our bodies can only
afford to
crumble to dust.

All that we know,
what we knew,
will only be cast...
Imprisoned.
Within the tight confines
of expiring memory.

We must pave a way
to a secret place.
A route to safety...
One that we could share.
Somewhere only we know.

I'll go to this place
where no one can.
I'll wait and anticipate
your arrival at this place...
A place only we know.
Inspired by Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know"
You are a song I can't tire of hearing
a pain that's worth bearing
you are the road that I pray may never reach the end
you are a leaf I'll never let touch the ground
a peg to which am tightly bound
and without which I get lost, and in whose presence am found
you are sunshine, you are the big blue sky
you are the one person who makes my heart sing and my soul sigh
the hello that makes me hate goodbye
you are the eyes in which I see the man I crave to be
I owe my faith and persistence to thee
for in the race of life, you're my motivation
and that's why no matter the sharpness of every other bend
on this long road, I tell myself that forever's our destination
I'll keep going for the big dreams and every medal
so as to see you smile as beautiful as a blooming petal
I count myself lucky to have you in my life
or let me just say there would be no true life without you
Nursing my secret longings
I lie awake in the wee hours of the night
Mind restless, like a caged bird, craving redemption
My thoughts journeying through time and space

I recognize a thousand appetites
Still waiting to be appeased!
Sadly there isn’t time enough
To realize what I really crave.

It is in the stillness of the night
When sleep deserts the eyes
That mind derails its track
And wanders like an aimless vagabond

Though rooted firmly on the ground
At times, I feel, I lose my bearings
How I longed to paint my sky
In garish colors and shades!

I wonder if the scales of my life’s balance
Lean more to gains or losses now!
There was a time when hope ruled the roost
And I heard love’s soft whispers all around!

Now I am unable to precisely tell
What my mind craves and pines
But this much I know for certain
I am becoming worn and old

Years have so quickly skipped past me
With youth and beauty sapped away
Leaving life an exhausted well
With the dregs remaining at the bottom

My eyesight has waned, the earlier lustre gone
My once supple knees have started to creak
And the muscles, begun to sag
I feel as vulnerable as a foetus in the womb

Pain grows with years
As a smudge deepens into an erasable stain
I am no wizard to call back all that have left
But listen to their ‘long, melancholy, withdrawing roar’

No more springing steps
And a fast fading cortex
Still I stretch myself
To catch at Hope, winging away!

If I could I would reach up
and give you the moon
Tied with a string
like a yellow balloon

So when you slept
beneath it's golden beams
You'd see the light
of my love in your dreams
I want to be everything to you,
I will lie with the most beautiful of intentions.
I will lure you in with my multiple dimensions.

You softened for me
The look in your eyes changed as you opened your heart.
Then changed back to ice
Caught up in my hurt.

I am lost in you.
Will you be lost in me?
Together we are beautifully destructive
Our presence to eachother both mutually disruptive.
From life, we learn many a valuable truth
That makes our existence one of worth

So growing old is no curse
As experience aids us steer life’s course

While life itself is a riddle
Remember, Death is an inexorable puzzle

Hatred burns life like fire
And wickedness turns it into mire

On Earth, forgiveness bonds hearts
But revenge, sure, breaks all bonds

Even a guilty falls prostrate
Before those willing to commiserate

Know, a true friend has no deceit
And a truly learned has no conceit

If jealousy is an acid which erodes
Generosity is a fuel that reloads

If inactivity is akin to death
Creativity is vital as breath

If perseverance conquers mountains
Laziness dries up fountains

While pride leads a man to his fall
Humility takes him closer to his goal

While Honesty leads him to salvation
Deceit drives him to damnation

Patience is an inexhaustible well
And *******, a sure road to hell

Know that those who long for the crown
Should also be torn by the thorn

While love of God takes us to eternity
Love of man leads us to fraternity

Ye Friends, with such priceless tips learned in bits
Light up your life in glowing glitz

Bury your past with all its woes
As each morn of hope brightly zooms!
My friends,  on reading  this poem, please don't see me as a sanctimonious proprietor! These are thoughts that have sprung from my heart. There is nothing new about them.... thoughts that have become cliche. But life has taught me these valuable lessons... I have learnt that love and forgiveness can conquer more than hate and  strife can destroy !  With age,  I am learning more and more. If these thoughts can douse the heat in someone...... well I am happy !
Is it true what the scientists say
That life on earth will end one day?

I guess that they are probably right
There'll be no day, there'll be no night

The ozone layer is full of holes
Rising temperatures melting ice floes

Will we perish in enormous Floods?
The thought of it just chills the blood

Or will earthquakes bury us out of sight
Will fire devour us without a fight?

Storm and tempest, some folk say
Will make us kneel in final prayer

The forecast? Now  I'll give you mine:
It will end in two thousand and seventy nine

Time is racing
Always going so fast
One minute the future
The next it's the past

Oh so fleeting
Quickly passing by
One day your born
The next you die

Always chasing you
Staying closely behind
No sense in hiding
It is you it will find

No drugs or operations
Can fool this persistent friend
With you from the beginning
Following you till the end

Don't waste time worrying
Leave it all to fate
Before you know it it'll be over
Enjoy it before it's to late
