holding my heart on a string
minutes from cutting it
Tracy Burke Apr 2014
i've come to the point where i'm always saying *******.
******* and the way you talk,
**** the way you walk and the way you run.
**** the way you smile when someone walks by you,
even if you have no idea who they are.
**** the way you slouch in your seat,
and **** the way you stand up proudly when rooting for your team.
**** the way you move and the way you care.
**** the way you dance,
and the way you slide across the floor when you really get into the music.
**** everything you do,
because now i've come to this point.
but you want to know the most ****** up thing of all?

**** the way you smile,
**** the way you smell,
the way you hold me when i'm sad,
**** the way you smile when you see me coming,
**** the way you put away your games and your phone,
when you want to spend time with me,
**** the way you tuck your head into my neck when we dance,
**** the way you sigh when you're tired,
and **** the way you flip your hair from your face.

**** the way you loved me,
and **** the way I love you.
but seriously, honestly, crazy and stupidly,
**** the way you never seemed like you really cared much,
at all.

scars litter your body
hopes fill your head
but why can't you dream?
you can't see what's
just in front of you
not anymore

after the day you
lost it all
the day you really thought
"that's it, i'm done."

and on that day
you realized
you were stronger than that
stronger than anyone has ever
made you believe

you can escape your demons
and rise
show the world what you really
could do
rise up
like no other

if you haven't noticed

the way I ignore

the way I always say

"I'm fine."

the way I pull

down my sleeves

when you come

too close

even on a humid

day

if you haven't noticed

my cries for help

even if I'm

not making a sound

how can you cry for me

when you never really

cared at all?

we tackle criminals

and disease

we tackle hurricanes

and earthquakes

so why do we

break down

when somebody

says something to

hurt us?

we're strong enough

for our lands creations

so we can break past

our troubles

and rise to

the top

like a skyscraper

run away with me

we'll follow

the sunset

and trail the

ocean

run away with me

we'll let

our feet

smooth the

sand

we'll let our hair

flow with the wind

if we run away

together

can we love

forever?

Shorts too small,
tank too tight,
boots to the knee,
&& hair too white.

Walking through the city,
with her head held high,
while everywhere around her,
people heave a sigh.

Little girls see this as perfect,
&& they struggle to shape.
Is this what 'perfect' is now?

Kids fighting the battles,
fighting the tease,
Models on magazines,
"Don't eat that, please!"

Standing in front of the mirror,
turning left, turning right,
all I see is fat,
even if I **** in with all my might!

But as I turn to face,
a smile spreads.
The girl she see's has demons,
demons she will chase away.

So get rid of all those magazines,
don't listen to those models,
forget those clothes,
we refuse to sink to the bottom.

Everyone is beautiful,
Just the way they are.
Looks don't make a women,
any more of a star.

Jeans fit right,
blouse flows against your skin,
purple high heels,
hair shines with every spin.

Smiling down the town,
with her head in the clouds,
and everyone around her,
well, they're **** well proud!
