I stare at the mirror
not because I'm vain
and not because I'm pretty
I stare at the mirror
because the person looking back
is not me
It's a black, shadowy wisp
that runs away
when I try to touch it
I'm referring to myself as a shadowy wisp because nobody really notices me anywhere and I shy away when someone does notice.

love?
this emptiness inside
is it love?
is it what
the dreams
and stars of hollywood
are all made up of?
is this the fluttery
glittery
dancing feeling of
love?
is it your broken hearted gaze
is it your back turned towards
my chest?
is it your finger tips
that lay
reserved in another’s hand
is this love?
is this my bright
white wedding?
is this where
i throw my bouquet
and gleam to the world?
is this the same love
that mother used to
sing for me to-sleep
in my bed at night?

is this the love
that i will lay
in a grave
tunnel deep
for?

Time to reflect

Here to lay still with silence
Freeze but ticking over in time
Stop to press and watch to pause
Mend the hands that rough the storm

Moon so full in times that reflect
Stars so tiny little and all
Wishes to send to soar and fly
The world around is high in the sky

Brushes stroke gently the flow
Colours mixed red yellow and blue
Blank to begin the gaps within
Pictures that hang hidden to show
I'm not much
But if you lose me
You'll know it

My periods turn to semicolons
My suicide notes to poetry
My goodbyes became hellos
The blades turn to sunflowers
And the bullets, a rose
My heart still is broken
But the pieces have been found
Death isn’t for me anymore
What is, in the here and now
I still don’t feel enough
But I am alive
And that’s enough to say
Today is not the day I die.

Diamond skies.
Moonstruck eyes.
Silent lips
Tells no lies.
Stardust quietly floats around,
A frozen blanket mutes the slumber town.
The chill runs deep
While the season sleeps.
But my heart is warm,
And that, you can keep.

Dear Wildflowers,
How does it feel to be the moons favorite child?
How about the suns personal treasure?
You're born in the spring,
Bloom in the summer,
And creep into our hearts in the winter months.

Dear Wildflowers,
How does it feel when the rain falls on your petals
Washing away your impurities?
Teach me how to guide the wind.
Teach me how to live life
Simple and Easy.

Dear Wildflowers,
How does it feel to be free?
To have no boundaries?
Share with me your secret,
How did you do it?
Did you charm them with your beauty?
Or do you simply have the strength?

Dear Wildflowers,
I envy you.
You're so beautiful,
Graceful as you dance together,
Mimicking the movement of the waves,
Magnifying it.

Love,
Every teenage girl who has ever gazed out the wind,
Across the lawn,
And into life's eyes.
