i have never been in love --
just the notion of such a thing
sends fear throughout
my entire body

it is something i crave,
yet at the same time,
it is something i have
trained myself to avoid

do not get too close,
in fact,
do not spend much time with them at all --
it will only make matters harder
when you remember that
feelings are ephemeral,
and that you need to save yourself
from constantly wondering
when their feelings are going to come to a halt --
save your heart from feeling
the inevitable ramifications
of their love being taken away.

do not fall in love with their smile
and the way it seems as though
their euphonious voice was created just
for your ears to listen to --
it will consume your thoughts.

do not daydream about what may be,
because daydreaming turns into wishing,
and wishes never come true.

and no matter how much you want to,
do not start caring.
because caring leads to heartbreak,
and from what i have seen,
there is no recovering from something like that.
this was written over a year ago, after a heartbreak i took too hard. i have since learned to tear down the internal wall i built, and let love into my life. it is both odd, and wonderful, looking back at old writing whilst on the other side of things.
And if you are to love,
Love as the moon loves.
It doesn't steal the night,
It only unveils the beauty of the dark.

And if you are to love,
Love as the rain loves.
It doesn't wet the bodies,
It only washes the sad dirt of the souls.

And if you are to love,
Love as the wind loves.
It doesn't drift away,
It only cleanse you to the core by invading through each pore.

And if you are to love,
Love as the sun loves.
It doesn't radiates heat,
It only pours its warmth on you to enlighten your way.

And if you are to love,
Love as the star loves.
It doesn't delightfully twinkles,
It only reminds you that not even death can separate two hearts.

And so forth,
if you are to love
Love as the whole universe
& not just a part of it.
Caress
The butterflies
In the
Terrarium
Of my heart.
Come see
How they
Dance for you.
How they
Flap a whisper
Of nimble limbs
And draw thoughts
Of you
For my soul to sing.
How I
Want to touch you
With my
Grazing fingers
And wings.

mediocre and
faded
the average poem
no longer strikes chords
in the heart's harp
use extravagant vocabulary
weave your words tight
until they seem uncomfortable
the original meaning lost
between the claustrophobic corners
covered in lace and pretentious boasting
try but don't try so hard
that no one but the classic readers
would be able to understand
the words you've worked so hard to convey
do not force a poem out
or it will stick your fingers and
it will create a mess
similar to a teenage boy
it will be long and uncomfortable with itself
unknowing of how to adjust
into this thing that is supposed to be
mature now despite wanting to be simple
do not rush poetry
find quiet inspiration
in silent observations
of yourself, of nature
rushing poetry makes it fast
too many unfilled thoughts
racing around in one space
not meeting each other
despite being so close together
tell a story with imagery
with delicate words of morality
tell a story with flashbacks
with soft lips and with stained shirts
tell a story with love
make your poems with care

I fall
away
to remain
together.
This is
my way.
To hold
my breath
before
diving deeper.
To hold
my bones
just a little
closer.
This is
how I know
I am whole.
When
I have
nowhere
else to go.
No one
else to
rely on.
I count
on my
own soul.
It might
lead me
through
the snow
and cold,
but I know
it will
always
lead me
back
home.

Love is like a game
You should know the instruction to understand
You should “XOXO” - like in Tic-Tac-Toe
You should mind your words - like in Scrabble
You should know your moves - like in Chess
You shouldn’t make mistakes too often - like in Hangman
You should complete each other - like in Jigsaw Puzzle
You should never cheat
But love,
Love wasn’t meant to be played
You can't fight your feelings
when your only weapon
is your courage
and you have no protection
for your heart.
