Sometimes
You break your own
Heart.

My lips…
Sealed as we converse
My eyes…
Closed at the sight of yours
My doors…
Barred as you knock
My heart…
Locked as you reach out

It screams,
“Do not enter”
It shouts,
“Do not think aloud”
It says,
“Do not tell me”
In deafening silence
And much irony

“Make your move,
But walk away,
Keep silent,
And turn around”

I listen closely
As your footsteps fade
Without saying, I beg,
“Do not tell me”

“Lest I melt
And unlock…”

“Lest I call
And you come back…”

“Lest I gain
Enough might…”

“Lest I fall…”
For your unspoken words
Down on your open palms
Into your rugged arms
With no way out

Her eyes dimmed
with every blink
that sparkle dissolved
in that black hole
that centered in the middle
of the pale blue eyes

Her body fluctuated
letting go of all things youth
from the tightness of her skin
to the fresh round cheeks
that once screamed health

Her hair darkened
those golden curls
straightened their act
falling on her hollow cheeks

Her neck that once stood tall
hid behind her gigantic scarves
keeping its seductive scent to her
and her alone

Her belly that once digested
the harshest of adventures
lay there, barely full

Her legs that danced with the moon
and ran with the sun, shivered
every time they pounded the pavement

Her fingers that once
narrated a sea of stories in a day or two
but now lay there helplessly
with no pen to hold
no inspiration to burn
within

It was the first time
she stared at a blank page
and shrugged her shoulders
and said "so what"

that was the moment
her muse
fell down to her knees
and cried rainfalls
of tears
There is a symphony within me
I feel it gather and build inside me
Soon it will flow over and consume me With its song
I will loose myself in it
And let it take me away
I will rise and fall on the waves of its melody
I will be washed away on the tide of music
And then one day I awake on the shore
And as the waves retreat I find it has led me home

You’re in for
A bumpy ride
You can run
Or you can hide
But the law of equality
Will be applied
And karma will
Not be denied

What you do
Inevitably
Comes back to you
Unquestionably
Give it some time
And you will see
The unveiling of
The mystery

Now here’s
The thing of it
What you give
You get
Time will pay
The debt
So you
Should not forget

This is
A general rule
For the knave
Or fool
Karma takes
Us to school
And often
Can be cruel

She knew the pain inside wouldn’t go away
She knew today was the day it would end
She jumped
