A Moment I Like
Alice Shen Oct 2016
Seeing through lenses as I tread,
Seizing shades of the chromatic world,
While it dances in my vision.
Beautiful Ecstasy,
bequeathed unto my eyes,
My soul, and my mind,
Which only the power of Nature can Provide.
I've captured the world’s wonders into my device,
Yet never one of them remained as mine.
As beautiful things never demands attention,
My shutters need not to click.
Let that instant soak into my mind,
As it becomes A Moment I like...

Ghost Tale
Alice Shen Oct 2016
As I walked through a bitter wintry night,
ghosts whispered through my ears a tale of fright.
I felt my throat growing slightly tighter,
as I hear them speak of a mysterious writer.

A man of tremendous talent once walked this town,
and he would always wear a coat of hazel brown.
He wrote stories of wonder that brought children glee,
and people would always ask for more with plea.

Though when discrimination unleashed its wrath,
prejudice stood against his path.
As men and women mocked his believes,
all of his happiness were mourned in grieves.

As his resentments were freed from chains,
rebellious anger in his story it gains.
Vengeance of evil in his tales did fly,
a mad man he became as he cursed to the sky.

Unjust it was to him; evil crippled his mind,
he massacred the town as if he was blind.
And when his sins did wrap around his head,
his knees buckled and he was dead.

My lips were quivering upon hearing this tale.
Frozen as I was, my face grew pale.
Petrified I was as my heart jumped to my throat,
because I was the man in that hazel brown coat.

Vertigo
Alice Shen Oct 2016
Imagine falling from the highest peak.
Zero spiral, a free fall that triggers vertigo.
Limbs elevating to the sky,
as if the torso was of a separate part of an apparatus.
Body aiming straight towards the ground like an anchor sinking in the sea.
Wind passes through your hair,
and rustles violently against your ears.
Can you imagine?
Gravitational pull,
it drags you down.
An indescribable sensation;
a sensation that leaves you further and further from reality,
As all becomes a blur.
A feeling of sheer emptiness;
for as brief as a second,
Every certainty becomes a questionable factor.
For even just an instant,
time extends; from a moment into an eternity.
And 'Temporary' becomes a word without definition.
It resonates in the mind of those who fear the fall;
Those who live with a brain numbing fear of the uncontrollable.
Eventually this miniature infinity will come to a halt,
As a strange entity ultimately breaks the fatal fall.
Once again, going back to the embrace of a great cocoon of protection.
And although that brief moment was your greatest fear,
it also became your greatest conquest.
With each glance back at the grotesque heights,
a smile would surface.
Because secretly, you know you loved it.
