Sunlight played off
the limes & golds
& there were azures too.
And my oh my,
how the howlers howled,
as dew dripped down
from the canopy
above.
It was quite mystical,
those ancient stone faces
stared at something
even I couldn't see.
But you could feel it there.
Oh yes, you could feel it there,
between the vines & toucans,
something unspoken,
something unnatural,
like spirits
gathering
with angst
for the
clear-cutters.
I like to get hammered,
I mean I work with hammers,

and nail lots of broads,
I mean nail lots of boards.
Her love shines like
a sunset through venetian blinds,
leaving me stripped
and striped with shadows and light.

Her love is the knife dissecting
my spine one vertebrae at a time.

I hope she likes
what I really am inside,
because I spill my guts
just to hear her sigh.
Howling, sighing, and ripping through my hair,
the wind smells of salted air.
Crashing, breaking, and exploding on the rocks,
the spray of the waves soak my socks.
Refracting, reflecting and blinding me of sight,
the last dregs of day give way to night.

My mind is silent, and my heart is calm.
My neck is stiff, and my nose is cold.

I breathe deeply, and without qualm.
I accept that my youth is growing old.

But I'm alive.
What keeps me awake late at night, are the thoughts of you...

The way you look at me,
The way you smile at me,
The way you talk to me,
The way you wave to me.

It makes me feel special

But

When I see you looking at her the same way you looked at me...

My heart shatters into pieces.
I wish you knew how much you affected me
I'm done crying,
but my mind has not.

It's writhing in pain and misery,
but my heart has stopped.
