Candles softly glow,
wishes whispered to the wind,
church bells toll afar.

The wind rushes in,
flames flicker, dreams dissipate,
silent prayers rise.

Morning’s golden hue,
echoes fill the empty pews,
faith endures the breeze.
Woke up still drunk
Saw the chaddies last night
Ain't seen them boys for awhile
But they was there
In the neon light
Of the bar sign
Of that new gaff
That is called the black cat
Christie had gone bald
I had gone fat
Their Spanish cousin Miguel
Looked disgusted that
Me and Milney
Had been out all day
The margheritas were on offer
What more can I say
He's an respected man
International architect
But we bullied and coerced him to get completely wrecked
And then it was over
Woke up fully clothed
Chugged down a black coffee
My brain felt exposed
Then perceived in the distance
A rumble I could not believe
Who'd be a bin man
On Christmas Eve?

Emma
Amidst the wildflowers, I surrendered my name,

the petals of sleep curling against my skin,

naked, I crawled through the earth's quiet flame,

your gaze—an echo, a memory, a sin—

the mirror, a thief, cradled the shadow of him.

dead poet
i look at you -
long and hard;
strike one off
the tally card -
of false promises,
and dubious words;
i peck your bud,
and fly like a bird.

i draw the line,
and watch it fade:
every second
you and i are away -
from each others grips,
coming down the trips -
i wonder if there was
another way.

smoke rings rising
up the clock -
show me the times
i forgot to lock:
my impulse for a high;
i’m not sure why -
i was expecting a key
at the bottom of the rock.
An extra word
to a good friend
and the friendship
came to an end!
