I'm trying to swim
In the endless ocean
I'm trying to breathe
As the waves engulf me

Everytime I think I can catch my breath
When I reach out to break the surface
I'm pulled down deeper and deeper

Its like I've got shackles at my feet
Pulling, tugging, calling
I'm fighting I promise I'm trying

Every gulp of air
Met by the pressure of the sea
Every grasp for light
Only a little more out of reach

So many words yet to be said
Let me shout them, let me speak
Hear me, see me...

I think I'm in way too deep
Kicking, thrashing, flailing
Please I'm trying

I told you once, I had a dream
The breeze was light
And I was at peace
The breeze stretches and cools the season
along the country road
variegated light, leaf-filtered
from trees that lean
in rivalry for my eager eyes.

Their foliaged arms dangle, then drop
an amber snowfall all around
as if to awaken me
to the autumn creep
into my bones that click and tick
with each tottery step.

Earth awakens me to the beauty
in this splendorous season
of the gliding swaying passage
of life in alteration
and spiritual invitation
to bathe in the slow current of creation
along this road
and its cool and bright possibilities.
The little
flower was
content,
safe from
the winds
of the world,
then, the days
sprouted her
body upwards
to the sky,
she found
it tiresome
to grow while
the poet
of the world
painted the
leaves
golden
to green,
finally, she
can gently
sing for the
clouds as
life became
greater in
color and
beauty,
until the
white blanket
of heaven
takes her,
and, she
is reborn
in some
other time
and place.
