Did you know
That lighting a fire
In the forest would
Burn it to the ground?

Did you know
That spilling oil in the ocean
Would ****
The dolphins and fishes?

Don't hurt someone
You don't understand
If you seek to destroy
Find someone else, this heart is done broken now

East Wind
Collections of my disorderly thoughts
gathered together with knots
of my ample desire
to make sense of my everyday life.
I write poetry, however bad they might be, to help me analyze my feelings.

Slipped into Sunrise
met with a star
a burning furnace
to light my way

Bird song along the shore
told of whale song from the deeps
set my lips to whistling
in tune with the sea

A distant shadow from below the horizon
played across my mind
you cannot have the light
and not accept the shade.

Its two thirty a.m.
or maybe later,
as she lays there
on the outer limits
of the small town
gas station parking lot
just off the highway exit,
trying to sleep as safely
as she is able.

Couldn’t be
more than
twenty-three
with a fully loaded bike,
and body tightly curled
under the cover
of her safety vest
of bright colors.

She smothers herself
under bright streetlights
cause at this time of night
or morning the lights
offer some limited sense
of security.

A concerned security guard
tries to wake her,
mistaking a mam for sir
drops a bottle of Gatorade
for her to drink later that day
and a sandwich.

He tells her
the gas station attendant
called the police.
Then to ease
his concerns
passes a couple loose ones,
leaving when he is done
getting a short explanation
of where she is coming from
and where she is going.

This is where the narrator’s
lines end but leaves him
wondering miles down the highway
if the police hassled her
or left her undisturbed,
so she could get
a few more hours of rest
before the hot day
forced this girl
back on the frontage roads.

going home isn’t always
returning to a place.
sometimes
it is returning to yourself.

In the womb I got drunk
and high on ******'s junk
not even born I'm an addict
the orphanage will predict.
I've tasted and never forget
this **** storm of regret.
Adopt me and my monkey
I'll try clean but we'll see.

Slur pee
When your eyes graze my cheeks
I cringe internally,
They're dead and they see
Every flaw that crawls on me.

But you always made me feel so pretty,
On your springy bed- when you said
"**** the lights and turn your head"
And I would let, darkness consume
My arms, my legs, and you;
With closed eyes and beauty, new.
