hard wired to function
taught a skewed history
pressured to conform

to break out without malice
leave without doing violence
desire unity celebrating difference

A day out

Thomas
We drive out through the golden fields,
She drives her truck,
With the windows open,
We listen to country,
She sings off key,
But I don't care,
I'm singing off key with her,
We laugh,
We stop at a diner,
The waiter who calls me "hon" thinks we're cute together,
We share a milkshake,
It's strawberry,
I blow bubbles in it,
She giggles,
We go to a lake,
We swim with nothing on,
We get out and  and lie in the sand,
We gaze at the stars and make new constellations,
We see shooting stars **** bye,
We fell asleep together,
We wake up with the sun,
We get dressed and drive to work,
It's a poem

Too strong, too real, too close, too personal
truth haunts my denial
tracks me down and throws her spear
always, always she reaches my heart
pierced, bleeding my self pity I die
die a thousand times each month
I hold my breath between each full Moon
hoping she will pass me by
my weak protestations get me nowhere.

When birds cease to fly
When eyes cease  to cry
When butts cease to sit
When hearts cease to beat
when the nimbus cease to rain
When wounds cease to pain
When hinges cease to swing
When bees cease to sting
When snow cease to chill
When scars start to heal
When  romantics cease to fall
When humans lose the soul
When flowers cease to bloom
When Sadness brings no gloom
When brides have no groom
When the economy ceases to boom
When drums cease to sound, and the globe, round
When another passion's found
And your beauty's ceased to astound
I'll find another, trust me I'll do
and totally forget about you
thoughts about you do haunt
For you have my heart but someday soon you won't

.
Above, this morning, on another plain
Over bogland and tundra rising snows drift
Darting birds white, unlike you, they strain
Fleeing on wing to save some earthen kin.
Blood runs as they race, your shadows cast,
Their hearts beating to some distant dawn.
Under the pale sun, white burns on their backs,
Daylight sings, their ears are horned, little faun
White as snow, the prince of the sky is blessed
On high by drops of rain, and dusted freeze,
Then blood and breast, sacrament and eucharist,
Their tale ends in glory, risen as a breeze.

will you ever stop haunting me?
i toss and turn at nights.
will i ever forget the way you looked at me in the mornings?
i cry the second i think of your eyes.
will you ever stop tormenting me?
my heart drops every time your name lights up my phone.
will you realize the damage you've done to me?
deep down, i understand your mind isn't able to process or accept what you did.

i wish you would disappear and that i never knew you.
i pray i forget your face, your touch, your name each day.
instead of you disappearing, i find that the woman i once knew is gone and all is left is not even a little girl, but just her shadow.
