I don't mind
Traffick in the morning
Raindrops blurring
The stop lights
Into technicolour beads
The paper touch
Of the air conditioning
A butterfly kiss
Landing on my cheek
Hey. :)

It's no accident
You fit the profile -
Brilliant, naive... lonely
Caught in their headlights
And held fast by the adoring crowd

It's a formula race
They take you for a ride
Straight out of the book
You willingly get in the car
Even as Rebecca ****** waves the flag

A trophy girl seals the deal
Intro the Queen of Hearts
She plays you deep
Grows a taste for speed
That you sweetly lap

Getting hit by cars
Is an insurance policy
Twice bought and sold
Realigning the steering
And covering potential loss

But while many might be totaled
By ventures in the down-under
A classic Valiant
Is a humble muscle car
That finds its way home

DaSH the Hopeful May 2015
Talking to the mirror I done learned some things
  About self preservation
Who I see myself as and if I'll make it
          I stand here naked
With no protection
    Just my reflection coaching me
All I see is these scars
Vanity lights reminiscent of cars approaching me
     I traffick myself in words
You read every inch from the drivers side
A little sniff
My standard's stiff and I'm firm handed when I write
Guess it comes out ******* white
                            Paper
Lines later I'm in the shower sitting on the floor
The water hits and I'm gripping on the door but I'm slipping trying to soar
I can't escape, can't fly away
But I've given so much of myself there's not enough to sell
I can't reup on myself
So I'll stand here staring at my face
And figure how to keep what's left of my heart in it's place.
