What can you do for the unfortunate homes that do not have electricity? As a young one, how can you be a light to those people living in them? Our project, “Pedal Innovation, Now A Solution” or PINAS, could help the community’s electric consumption. It is simply a fishing boat that is manually pedaled and charges a battery that could help those communities, especially those in rural places, that lacks electricity. Our group thinks that not everyone experiences the leisure of having electricity and not everyone gets fast and safe transportation. So we thought of a project that could support the whole community’s needs. One fishing boat could be transformed into this said manually pedaled boat. By pedaling, this could produce energy that would be stored in the battery installed in the boat. This battery could be connected to wires like bulb wires, and all through the night, it will provide light in a home. This battery could also work like a motor of a boat. This would give a faster transportation that could be used in emergencies.
There are still places here in the Philippines that are secluded. When there’s an emergency, authorities have difficulty in going to a certain area because sometimes they need to cross bodies of water (most likely seas) in order for them to help people. Our proposal can help the authorities go to isolated areas and at the same time they can contribute to the community by giving them energy/electricity because the boat can also generate electricity by pedaling.
Some islands in the Philippines do not have their own means of transportation. Children there are forced to cross bodies of water just to go to their school in the next barrio or island. It is a great hassle for them because before they even go there, they are already tired. They have the strength to attend to their school because they have dreams to reach.
Admittedly, not everyone can afford to have electricity. These people are mostly those who are in rural areas. They already spend their money on their basic needs, like food. But imagine having this pedaled fishing boat, you could fish and charge up your battery.
Our group thinks that everybody deserves to have access to electricity, even if you are in an isolated place, or just in a rural area. Our project is very easy to use. It is also gasoline-free, chemical-free. You pedal, and it is a win-win situation! Everybody also needs transportation, especially during emergencies. Usually, provincial hospitals would refer you to a more complete facility. Our project would help those in need of fast and safe transportation.
