"jumanji" poems
Jumanji was your favorite Robin Williams movie
Mine was Dead Poets Society
You didn’t think it was too interesting
And you fell asleep on my shoulder
When we watched it on a pixilated
2” by 5” screen
Moving at 1 ½ miles per hour
On a bus
Going 5000 frames per second
Over a burnt sandwich chips
We stopped near Michigan and State
To talk about our favourite books
Yours was As I Lay Dying
Mine was The Old Man And The Sea
We talked about the relationship
Between Faulkner
And Hemmingway
And if they ever kissed
Or shared coffee
Or at least thought about it
If Faulkner liked Jumanji
And Hemmingway was partial
To Dead Poets Society
If it turned out
They were chips of a fractured whole
Did Faulkner ever take Hemmingway home?
Does the Hemmingway house still have Faulkner’s toothbrush
On a splintered wooden nightstand?
Did they ever wake up with the wrong socks on the wrong feet
And laugh it off because it was so funny
Were they ever afraid?
Were they ever happy?
Did Faulkner write to Hemmingway
About the Post office?
Did Hemmingway write to Faulkner
About fishing?
“The old man lay dying in the sea”
We wondered if they ever wrote together
Held hands
Traded coffee cups
But you fell asleep
And I kept writing
And watching Dead Poets Society
Wondering if Hemmingway ever would have

Were there reason to suspect treachery
I do not know
mind has become lost in an awakening
thus senses dulled
were it normal such a flip flop of the senses
I would think me safe
as it were I find me tossed into the dark
wondering what curveball may my way next come
I am lost in the Amazonian jungle
waiting for venom to strike out
naught in this secluded wood could be serene
or is this my paranoia talking
but I know this game
Jumanji let us dance
it is your turn to roll the dice
I am watching afraid, confused
what intention could be that
of a python stalking a mouse

Carpe Diem
funny boy
did you wait
till it was too late
hurry hurry
worry worry
you took life
in big giant bites
and then had to stop
to break
only when you
defeated yourself
hurry hurry
worry worry
but even then
after breaking
you got up and overcame
your life and art were amazing and never the same
race hard then fall or stall
and then
once again
get up
and give it your all
you did it
again and again
be extraordinary
hurry hurry
worry worry
never the same
look how you overcame
Good Will Hunting
Dead Poets
Jumanji
Mork from Ork
Patch Adams
Awakenings with De Niro
Aladdin
Death to Smoochy
Insomnia
Peter Pan
Mrs Doubtfire
Good Morning Vietnam
Jakob the Liar
hurry hurry
worry worry
I have to stop
not because I am out of art
there are many more
but because my fingers
are tired of typing titles
Peter Pan
you stayed young
fought the dark
and won many triumphs
again and again
hurry hurry
worry worry
you ran an amazing race
and a pace for two lifetimes
in the end the dark caught you
but you left behind
a mark of amazing art

through the ring
and previous string
sewing together
these things i feel
a crestfallen sting
why repair what is
already rusted
why abrade soil
when it's already crusted
you found a home
for the words i entrusted
a corner in the ceiling
to one day be dusted

Tell me what you see when you look at me?
Is it love or is it pitty?
Or do you see the lion in me.
The king of these concrete jungle
Running through the city like jumanji
Tell me what you see when you look at me?
Do you see a good son in me?
Or a money hungry boy that's selfish and greedy.
Am i done growing up?
Because I stand 5'7
while my pride reached heaven
Tell me is there Greek in my blood
Am i a decedent of Plato.
Philosophy like Aristotle.
Tell me What you see when you look at me?
Am I the raven?
Am I 22 in my winter stages.
I must be definition of sadness and sorrow.
No more greater damage than the mental.
Tell me What you see when you look at me?
An intelligent mind with a kind heart.
But love and care is a weakness
When everyone else is selfish.
Shedding tears at your grave was my biggest mistake.
Kind heart weren't you,
Good kid weren't you,
Everything everyone wish they had but nobody really wanted you.
Tell me what you see when you look at me?
Do you approve of the new me?
Tell me What you see when you look at me?
As I stood in front of the mirror and wrote this I saw the corpse of the old me.
Isn't that what you see when you look at me.
Just tell me......

MY FRIEND
I hate to hear the word gone
When all I feel is your presence when am alone.
I hate to hear the word too soon
When all I can't wait is to see you soon.
I hate it when the sun rise
for it reminds me of the sun burn we both have
When the sun moves I look at my shadow
Hoping to see yours too.
When the sun set I hide behind board games
Trying to find the mystery you feared from jumanji.
Now that I'm trapped in the woods
I sit and wonder if nature is what you feared.
I still wonder,
If you were here would you still be my friend
And concur the world with me,
Would you really stand by me.
I'm sorry to be selfish
But if my shadow can evade me
Who am I to fool my self and trust you
When you gave your life to the teeth less land.
If heaven had a door
I would just knock at the door
And fly like the king of birds
For I'm not that strong to hold goodbyes with my lenient shoulders.
When you died
I lost my left wing and tried to slice my other wing
And join you on your heavens trip
But mommy told me suicide isn't a solution to heal but to hurt those who have healed.
I am sorry but I tried
And I know your not sorry because you did it.
I wish the world impregnated you with another chance
So I can pause the sand watch
And we both watch the last leave
Slowly floating in the silent wind.
