"emblazons" poems
At the precipice of sunrise
I might aspire to take a stroll
a bipedal tour of the neighborhood
catching the scent of recently cut grass
feeling the dew on the leaves
low hanging trees
and observe the moisture
drawing earthworms from their shelter
easy pickings for the ravens
whom may aspire to be eagles.
Squirrels approach with a boldness
expecting nourishment from my person
and leave disappointed as they came.
The sun emblazons the horizon
with a will to command the chorus of birds
At this moment I realize our reservations
and selfish preservation have become.
As I smile and throw my arms out wide
a wasp lands and stings the inside of my joint
and I remember
how much of an ******* everything is
and go back inside.

Forget the apprehension,
Let your clouded breath hang
On the rearview you see from
Your memories
Move in that direction
As tears
Dangle, restless, longing for solid earth
Dewy, un-coiffed grass
Emblazons today, still
Underneath can be beyond…
Above can be behind…
Shrouded horizon spins unnoticed
And all-encompassing endeavors
Bending light ‘twixt fate’s fingers
Like moments through a color-arch
Acrid rumors, sweat
Spew from our stolid, misshapen bodies
Soaring, metal box with wheels
Over holt, into the harbor
Hence comes the tide;
Hence comes the tide!
Underneath becomes beyond
Above becomes behind!
Anxious melody of air-springing
Pervades the cacophony of living
Can you forget asphyxiation,
So long
As saturated lungs keep breathing?

Achieve what can never be taken away from you,
Gain; what you can never lose
Learn to teach and teach to learn
the knowledge that you can forever use.
Wise men said
All that's visible will perish
Its what you have internally
that will flourish.
For great men never die
Their deeds of kindness amongst us lie
My Dad once held my hand
and spoke of this wonderland
where no man is great or small
courage and success emblazons us all!
So my dad taught me to reach a place
from where I can never fall!

the pull to your core riles my attention
the pull is dedicated, though not to you.
your core is what I'm after.
you represent an immature version
of us, I add in my growth and we
continue to develop.
though you are merely a fraction,
we are spread far. the pieces
rile my attention, create a tunnel
that emblazons my affection for myself.
for us all. in each meeting,
I am looking for you.
my thoughts are captured
in the essence of the trueness of everything,
the fragility, the permanence of nothing.
flowing in this interaction, the balance.
it seems life must be short.
my daughter calls me to live long,
I wake each day to embrace another chance
to sit in myself, in this body,
to witness this vantage point.
I get lonely in here, my tribe spread thin.
I know that the energy of
the spread of a galaxy realigns us constantly.
we create the things that communicate to
hear our own memories.
and I am just thankful,
all other emotions lacking substance.

Clouds in shrouds and thoughts aloud
Entice you far too soon,
For she who thumbs unseemly sums
Contributes to the gloom.
Chasing pleasures caustic measures
Risking all to play,
Ensures the visions quick incision
Forfeits what you say.
For thee, my sweet, this game complete
Enhances what you are,
To soar so high in crystal sky
Emblazons you....a Star!

Orion hangs
dutifully over the
Building adjacent to mine
His sparkling features
resemble a warrior
Lean and strong and toned
As I sit alone here in my car
Music plays softly.
My phone is about to die
yet I pull out my notes to scrawl out
A memory in the making
One of those that wasn’t
of a particular event
—A moment frozen inside itself
for no apparent reason.
A moment frozen in my mind
for no other reason
Than for its sheer simplicity, mundanity
And yet its softness.
Thinking of you
is what makes this moment
so crystal clear and bold.
Remembering your smile
is what emblazons right now
in my mind.
Memories of you sparkle
like stars against ebony skies
and draw constellations in my heart
Tracing patterns and marking paths
we have walked together
and paths we have yet to take.
And so, to Orion
I cast my final thoughts
of the night.
