a poem a day while my heart is away*
It got too hard
To write,
To sleep,
To eat,
To be

It felt wrong and it felt constricting

There wasn't freedom and happiness in the only things that brought me joy

I guess that's what happens when writers block takes over your entire life, clogs your pores and dams up your soul

Poetry hasn't tasted the same

Maybe it's because my heart is miles away from me, maybe it's because I forgot how it feels to be loved in his absence

So I put down the pen in frustration
The poem a day thing was taking a real toll on my day to day ability to function for some reason, so I had to stop

You
I have had writers block, for the longest time
I cannot seem to get words out, that rest on my mind
They grow heavier, with every passing moment
As if I do not tell them to you, they will leave nothing left
They weigh down on my soul, desiring to be heard
I begin to write you this letter, and so I tend to get better
Then I begin to wonder, how has a poet become so dependent
Speaking to this impeding entity, one who consists only in my head
I have no idea who you are, but I do know I need to write
I may never meet the one's I vent to, but thank god they exist
My writer's block ceases and you are the one's I can thank

The Sun is not allegiant to the fire.
The grass crown the earth before your feet,
Trees stretch their long hands like those
Of a drowning man's, and the sand shines,
Revealing itself, like attenuated stars,
Like eyes, a lot like eyes intoxicated
     By an eager love.

See, I adore...
     ...your chaos.

I don't believe in storms
Rid of miracles, nor lies
     Of truth.

I will make you love you.*

Your lashes swept the air
And lovely was this day.
Smile, wide, my love,
Your eyes equal
The labors
Of the stars.*

Free your butterflies with a kiss,
They might love before we do.
I do not wish to see a heart
Hold feasts for their young,
Nor lungs, heavy with cocoons.
And so, let go. I say,
We tend a garden here, together,
On our mouths, our lips,
And plant without a seed.*

White heads, wrinkles, cellulites...
...I said, I love her.*

Wet, out-of-place, on the shore,
Beside the driftwood.*
