I don't write down every poem that resides in my head.

For somethings are better left unsaid.

Some combinations of words are far too special

Some combinations I share to cure the world

Some combinations I wouldn't dare let go.

Cold

When the cold people come out, come out from their earthy graves,
They creep to your windows, and slip under your doors.

When the cold people come inside, come inside to reach into your whole,
They flood your mind, and rush your soul.

The cold people come into your memories, make scenes seem more sinister than they are,
They make you lash out, leaving to others only fresh scars.

The cold people cause you to leave,
when you shouldn't,
when you usually wouldn't,
pushing you to drastic measure you thought you couldn't.

The cold people are the memories of you, the body of me you buried in your yard.
The pictures we burned, the lesson you never learned.

They only come for me, they will not set me free. But I know you refuse to face yourself, so I hope you're happy, so ignorantly free.

Unsent
 May 2016 Sydney Marie

I've been scribbling words about you, I haven't looked at the clock til now - it's 17 minutes past 7. I may be late for work.

I have written several nonsense letters, wondering if I already wasted more ink than I should, thinking how many of these words have you already heard, and doubting if they would mean something more once you read them.

These words, these are the things I want you to know but would never tell you.

But these words, they don't really matter, do they? These words can't make you stay, or flinch even.

Because the things you told me that matter, they didn't. And even if they did, we won't do anything about it.

These letters, they would remain unsent.
I'm so lonely
there's nothing for me to do
except to think of how much I miss you
I'm sorry for the swearing I'm sad but I edited it out

Sometimes  -
I wish I could Photoshop my life
Instead of snapchatting every lonely birthday cake,
covered in dried wax because when I went to make a wish -
I didn’t know where to start.
A new camera?
A shiny bright white microwave?
World peace? A hand to hold without
someone else pointing fingers at me?
By the time I was ready to blow,
the static had already had us -
Like a volcano sinking into the ocean
I wanted more than anything to burst new land -
but I fizzled -
Sometimes I want to meet someone off Tinder
Right here and right now
plan to have *** and fall in love.
Sometimes I think that the only people who marginalize us
is ourselves - like when
You and I broke up, it felt like the galaxy started to get pulled in the wrong direction
Like - some alien black matter wanted whatever piece of light I had left,
and I almost let go. But if almost’s and black holes
were the same, I wouldn’t still be here.
Something balanced out.
And then ironically, I saw you at a gas station
Pulled over. You said you’d been missing me.
That’s when I saw the mathematics of the environment.
Binaries that gave way to greater purpose.
A reason to rhyme, I’d found it.
Completely astounded, I allowed it,
to take over every shred of second I had left on this clump of dirt.
Isn’t it amazing -
That some days, weeks even
I’ll wake up, in a daze, weak, not notice a bottle of water
on a table, or desk - and there are days
I will go without water, head ringing before bed
And I’m wondering why, water is gathering dust
my will to continue with you going dry - wondering why
wondering why it went down like it did
why, you were so caught on by something your mother said years ago.
For ****'s sake, had she been high?
Or at least tripping over her own ego -  we will never know.
But that’s something I see every day.
People who smile, to get a smile
To smile, and I just smile back
tired.
sleepy.
had to wake up
this morning.
early.
at ten.

(i know
what you
must be
thinking.)

you're thinking
10's not early,
and you would
be right.

but only if you
go to sleep
early in
the night.

but if you can't
fall asleep til
late, late, late,

you'll find
waking up at ten
just isn't that great.
On the beach,
Where the sand tickles our feet.
On the mountaintops,
Where the clouds are in our reach.

In the meadows,
Looking into your eyes, while laying on the grass.
On a roller coaster,
Holding hands, while we scream and laugh.

In another country,
Where we could adventure and sightsee.
On a hill,
Cuddling each other, as happy as can be.

In a cave,
Searching for what lies within.
Next to a river,
Where our journey begins.

Under a waterfall,
Soaking wet.
In the place,
Where we first met.

In your arms,
Where its nice and warm.
In our hearts,
Where we'll always, weather the storm

Anywhere,
I shall go with you.
Everywhere,
Just me and you.

Since you said goodbye,
there's beauty in the darkness
and you're all I see.
It's hard for me to fall asleep when it's my birthday and you don't call.
