everyone's talking
about freedom of speech

as if it should come at no cost
like something you teach

it's never been that way
and it never will be

we need to be reminded
of what it means to be free.

Now,
You
Are
Reading
My
Poem
And
You
Might
Hate
It
Because
It's
Actually
Senseless
And,
Right
Now,
You
Would
Stop
Reading.
Oops!
I guess
I was
Wrong
But
Now,
Really,
I know
You'll
Stop
Right
Here
.
Guess
I was
Wrong
Again.
This
Time
I won't
Be wrong
Anymore
Because
You
Would
Really
Stop
Reading
This
Right

i
am just waiting for five o'clock to get here.
and you
are over there hoping five o'clock never comes.
we
live in parallel universes for a moment.

my bones
ache from the weight of your soul.
and your bones
can't survive without a crutch called me.
we
live in parallel universes for a moment.

my eyes
open the rising of the sun.
and your eyes
widen with the waning of the moon.
we
live in parallel universes for a moment.

i
no longer love you.
and you
finally fell in love with me.
we live in parallel universes for a moment.
this poem was originally a text message i sent to my fiance because i leave work at five and that is when he starts work.  i look forward to five and he dreads it. the first stanza is the only part that holds any true relevance to my life. i had a good idea for a poem after sending him that, so i wrote this. ;)

I am thankful for media chips,
and memories of lips;
of still mornings,
and warm warnings.

I am thankful for lightning,
for every bit of string,
a feeling of self-autonomy,
and the stars I see.

I am thankful for the hope,
college and all its dope;
for your hand there,
and the wear and tear.

I am thankful for this noose,
and my ability to tie it loose.

promise! This will be the last...
but then how many times did you say it?
asked yourself, is moderation in your jurisdiction?

It's amazing
It's beauty as much as we try, can't be defined
Beautiful as a blossoming flower
Then it withers
For it never lasts
But lives on in the lovers hearts forever
