One day we shall meet by the river’s quiet sweep,
Where blooms, like secrets, in the garden sleep.

On the right, the florist, her hands so soft with care,
Tending to fragile lives that grace the air.

To the left, the trees, so patient, dark, and wide,
Their roots in silence, where the shadows hide.

Their limbs, like whispers, reach toward the sky,
As though they, too, have learned the art of sigh.

Above us, the moon, pale, her glow so still,
A quiet sentinel against the night’s cold chill.

She watches, steady, as our hearts unfold,
In the twilight hour where time turns gold.

We shall meet when time, like rivers, winds,
And silence speaks the language that the heart intends.

Not in a rush, but in a soft, sweet flow,
Where blooms, and trees, and stars bestow.

The river hums a tune so deep,
The flowers bow, the trees do keep.

Their silent watch as we draw near,
A meeting born of calm, sincere.

what do you do when...

the edge is being pushed hard
a swollen dam shows its cracks
a river surges to the sandbags
that must never break banks
for boundaries were set
in solidarity's cement

and the grey matter burns
in uniformed words- stretched
seeing the assailant's oratory
preaching from the podium
in a soliloquy of conceit

you stare at the frames-
pictures sharp recycle
as you smell the lies
that 'you'll breathe
your very last
if you tell'

but how do you defy
you forgot how to cry
you were barely fifteen

what do you do when...

he stands tall, pulls rank
signs off on your life

some days cramp cold-
while seconds drag past
when the faces around you
greet the beast with their smile
and you alone see way beyond
society's accolades, gold medals
may glint, but pull off those tags
to the masked deeds he hides

and the burden remains
compressing your chest
as his body had pressed
bursting into your door
as your broken self fell
to choke as you tore
in his crushing roar

silenced across
the boss's desk
as your candle
flame smokes
as the fissured
walls break

unseen...
I swore myself a roving man,
A tempest, free of charted sand.
No port, no queen, no claim, no chain—
Yet still, she called, and still, I came.

Her hook was quick, her lure was keen,
A siren’s snare of silk unseen.
She whispered myths of wicked gold,
And so, I knelt—was bought, was sold.

A single patch to shade my sight,
To blind the wrongs, to frame the right.
Then two, then three—by my own hand,
Till all the world was black as land.

Her parrots perched upon my back,
Squawking truths I’d not attack.
“Loyal hands should grip the mast,
And take the keel both first and last.”

I took the brace, I took the blow,
I let her mark me down below.
A willing brace, a wooden stand,
A peg well fit to her command.

I’d tell myself I’d steal away,
Yet still, I’d bow, yet still, I’d stay.
For even now, I taste the brine—
And miss the rope that made me blind.
He knew he wasn't perfect
But he always did his best to get under the surface
Not a saint, not a serpent
He just wanted everyone to be impressed with him as a person
So when she came along with the sunbeam
Self-esteem stopped making nothing outta somethings
Leaving the scene was unseen, I mean
It was the first time he ever felt the need to keep the gun clean

Do the math
He knew he had to choose a path
Gotta get that girl, gotta make her laugh
Gotta shake the past and move forwards
Gotta make this last, it feels gorgeous
But she had a lover in the mid-west
Never figured out how to get him off her thick chest
Just like that everything is gone
He didn't wanna but he had to learn the words so he could sing along

Everything is all I have to give you
And I'm afraid it ain't enough
And you're not so young that you believe me
Just because I say it's love
And even if they come to steal you tomorrow
I'll know my smile was yours
Go ahead and chase your dreams and your freedom
Run, run wild wild horses

You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses, no
You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses

Sometimes it can be so nice, right?
Sometimes she feel herself turn into the wife-type
And when it's dark, sometimes is the nightlife
But most of the time she doesn't even feel lifelike
She got a man but he thinks he's a star
And it feels like she has to compete with the bar
She keeps up her guard but it seems so hard
Momma never told her she would see those scars

Every night he's out doin' who knows whom
While she cries along like a new show tune
Last call past, is he comin' home soon?
Or is he gonna run away with the dish and the spoon?
She'll realize she don't want that clown
Leave those shoes at the lost and found
He wont catch on until she's not around
After somebody else already locked that down

We sing...
Everything is all I have to give you
And I'm afraid it ain't enough
And you're not so young that you believe me
Just because I say 'it's love'
And even if they come to steal you tomorrow
I'll know my smile was yours
Go ahead and chase your dreams and your freedom
Run, run wild wild horses

You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses, no
You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses

He didn't want her to see him leave
And he couldn't keep sittin' there watchin' her sleep
Cause he knows if he hangs out for a few hours
He'll dig another hole tryin' to plant some new flowers
But the sun don't shine under the table
He's tryin' to hold his life together with staples
No investment cause he's incapable
And he's on the outro of being labeled available

The word on the street is his girls comin' back home
No more alone, no more sad poems
No after-bar calls to the cell phone
Its time to walk a new path and grow a backbone

Shoved into the big book of just friends
Wondering how he would look as a husband
And everyone of 'em he ever allowed to love him
Now watching from the crowd tryin' to be proud of him

They say...
Everything is all I have to give you
And I'm afraid it ain't enough
And you're not so young that you believe me
Just because I say it's love
And even if they come to steal you tomorrow
I'll know my smile was yours
Go ahead and chase your dreams and your freedom
Run, run wild wild horses

You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses, no
You can't tame these horses
You can't tame these horses

You can't tame these horses
Red wine swirls in the glass,
A deep crimson longing,
A sip of warmth,
A taste of hope.

The holiday spirit hums,
Soft carols in the air,
Lights flickering promises
Of something brighter.

I raise the glass to the mirror,
A quiet toast to the wanting—
To be kinder, to be better,
To let love linger longer.

Each sip a reflection,
Each thought a spark,
In the quiet glow of the season,
I vow to start.
The forest ground is rich and deep,
Sunlight flickers on my face,
The **** dirt clings where roots will creep.

Through towering pines where echoes sleep,
Fresh flowers bloom in wild embrace,
The forest ground is rich and deep.

The morning air makes my skin leap,
Goosebumps rise in nature’s grace,
The **** dirt clings where roots will creep.

Soft rays of light through branches sweep,
A golden glow in tangled space,
The forest ground is rich and deep.

The mossy trails, the hills so steep,
I breathe it in, my sacred place,
The **** dirt clings where roots will creep.

Forever here, my soul will keep,
Wrapped in the wild’s kind embrace,
The forest ground is rich and deep,
The **** dirt clings where roots will creep.

the ghood poet knows no boundaries,
lays down tracks of a New England
pond of nirvana,
or across Siberian froze wastelands,
another
salves the wounds of dying soldiers,
and gives away comfort to the dying
with the freeing oxygen of
comforting words

the world of self,
that thing we know best,
thus encouraged by the textbooks,
well,
to have at it, plays whacamole
with your  owned flirtatious emotions,
none too imperious or low down or
garbage dump *****, that yet
cannot be validated by exploratory
over-the-line words pithy

even the florid, tiresome nickel & dime ing
rhyming scheming crutches,
we so oft employ,
yields up stuff that ain’t half bad,
periodically,
though, the blunt of words well crafted
needs
no such delimiting amusing playthings
or imprisoning
I-am-amoebic-pen-tata-meter

take you inspiration from here and there,
the proverbial deep dark of the mind’s recessed corridors of
corrupted consciousness,
or, the
contrail whiffs of the steaming steaming of the contradictions of a
newborn first day’s contrast of-
the wet dew on toes cooling,
while the simultaneous sun warms all
the cheeks,
heats the blood with
a thanks-god-I’m-alive
overwhelmingly overall tickling,

or
not.

write with the tools you have, but keep
them well sharpened, with
insight and revelation,
exploring the rain’s windowed
navigable rivulets,
the musical tempos
of waves and their multi-mystical variations,
and the readers will come like
pilgrims to your  holy land,
wearied and yet so delightedly hopeful,
with tingling contrasting dictions,
to capture and release,
by shattering any
stale notions of adulation
will bring your
audience of holy voyagers and voyeurs
to imbibe so deeply your creativity for the quenching, and the
amen gasp escaping tween
their lips is just a simple holy,
gentling thank you

discard the bad words as ornery and
distracting, veiled in pomposity and
highfaluting, self-saluting, arrogance of
those deeming themselves critical thinkers,
who thrive in the low mud flats of
self-pretension and the reassurance
of a mirror’s reassurance

write straight from the heart,
fill our eyes with the
complexity of the simple
and
grant us the write to share,
in your humanity

craft the work
and
the work
will repay
so stealthily
by secretly
crafting you
