goldie quartz
do you only ever see people in color
when they are gone?

when they have taken all their tints and tones,
leaving you empty,
black and white?

do i have to leave
for you to see me
in all of mine?

Just him and me
in that classroom,
Everyone has disappeared; i feel no one else here but him
but he sees everyone.
I'm not a third wheel
or even a fourth or fifth,
but I am the dirt on the ground that they ride over.

there’s a melancholy tune
from the shallow end
pulls me in, broken-hearted

like a deer in the headlights,
i stood in awe
encaptivated;

waiting for you to hit me
In the end,
the hit came psychologically.

When I close my eyes tightly,
And I do this nightly,
I can hear your voice.
You speak to me softly,
And I think ungodly,
Now I can feel your presence.
A touch I'll never know,
You already let me go,
Doesn't mean I don't miss you.
I wish I didn't
Because you don't

The black pick-up trundles by.
Every late evening the same
trek along these quiet roads
is hated by an unseen driver.

On the back a bottled reservoir
of milk ebbs and flows like ice
on some red planet faraway.
Tonight the telegraphed heat

of coming day means he trickles.
Then all along moonless lanes
he rattles home empty, longing
for rain and the lure of firesides.

The sky bled on me today
I heard the clouds shriek
As I ran away
But the sound followed me
I heard her sobs
I felt her bleeding
I knew it throbbed

Finally I looked up
As I heard someone say
Stand up sweetie
It's only rain
