The scent of your breath across
the horizon of my sternum

& the pull & clench beneath,
is tectonic; white birds
rise & fly, die
& descend.

he takes me in
with a long drag
while he lights me up
and just when
i'm on fire
he puts me out
with his sole
and leaves me
smoldering
next to his empty
beer bottle.

lilac
Somewhere was emerald skies and floating flowers,
But she did not know where to look. The sounds of rhythm beat through
Her body.
The song sways her hips back and forth, but she wants nothing more
Than to get away
Get
Away
To get away from it all.
Her honey hair and her rosy lips pull the eyes of love to her, but she wants nothing more
Than to get away.
Her hair glows
In the blue skies and flowers are plucked, weaved in her hair
And the boy gives her chocolate every year, but she wants nothing more
Than to get away.
She wants to explore the horizon, find her
Path in the simple world she was stuck in.
Was it possible to get away
When she wanted nothing more?

Lunar
he asked if i ever smoked
because my eyes are always teary
and my lips are pale and dry
with my hands always shaking

i told him no
but my mind's a constant cloudy haze
and it's caused by something dangerous
to both our health

when it burns, it has this unpleasant smell
and tastes bitter on my tongue
much like your bitter lips
spitting out unpleasant words

it's us bygone,
it's we
in the past tense
it's we-ed
hi!! i enjoyed writing this one, because it popped up at first while i talked to tamia about **** (see what a conversation between two poets can cause) and i made a joke that there's a 'we' in **** and the "-ed" is a suffix for the past tense of some action. so i decided to play it into a poem and voila! enjoy this **** :-)

b for short
Cold air on the cheeks makes
for a natural blush.
This is a “healthy” look—
I read once from a banned book,
on mute,
in my parent’s bathroom
while everyone else was dreaming.
A “healthy” truth I’ve always
kept hidden under my tongue,
exposed only to moments
matured for keeping.
Licked lips, feel a sting and a dare
to think that I may never really
unlock that door.
That I might just continue
reading words, unapproved,
while other eyes stay shut.
Hiding healthy truths under my tongue
until I’m brave enough
to speak or
swallow.

b for short
Sweet, but not too sweet.
Life balances
on the tongue of fate—
clicking and rolling
behind her cackles and trills,
while we act as if
these bitters are all we’ll ever
have the chance to taste.
“Breathe and savor,” she says,
“Too much sugar will rot your teeth.”

Miss Honey
Everything is damp
and I can't escape how my eyes drip black
They won't stop

I try to turn my back
but all I see are ruins for miles
And this broken house I built

A road that I paved
That I destroyed out of somewhat necessity
With broken nails and a weak heart
This whole town was mine

I destroyed it all for you
and the promise you never kept
You said I'd have hope here
You said this was right and warm
You said I'd be safe here
You ******* liar
