it seems we live in times
when helping hands extend only reluctantly
to those in dire need who had to leave
the ruins of their devastated homes
not waiting for more bombs to fall
to those who had to save their lives
from the barbaric rule of self-styled prophets
and those whose simple love of education
was met with inane terror and oppression

why is it that so many people
are afraid of them and think
     these desperate refugees are perpetrators
          not the victims

why is it that the nations most responsible
for chaos and destruction in these countries
far from their own safe shores
are the least willing to accommodate
those they have driven from their homes

good Samaritans have become scarce
only a few today share their possessions
with those who are in greater need

our humanity has been outsourced
to NGOs and sundry other institutions
to whom we donate so they feed
the hungry   poor   and the displaced

it makes one wonder whether shameless greed
has indeed
    and without any saving grace
become the only goal of our race
called to scour these transient shores
i am slammed against graffitti'd walls
by winds of hate
and waves of steel
in silent vigil
i caress the promise time has made
the place that fate holds for me
i can see
i can touch
i will find
at the end of this storm

I'd love to curl up with you tonight.
Feel you next to me.
Learn the pattern of your breaths.
I'd love to cuddle up in a blanket and watch
the sun dip lazily behind the mountains,
the golden rays reflecting your soul,
the breeze playing with your hair.
I want you to tell me the meaning behind each tattoo
and talk late into the night about life's important things.
I want to fall back, and look at the stars,
and as I look over at you, wonder how you're not up there with them.
Fingers interlocked,
souls dancing under receding moonlight.
Your presence, reflecting the world.
I'll have to dream of you instead,

Tryst
Forgive a scant and doleful rant
Of mindless scoffed derision,
I find of late I’m quite irate
To read of politicians
Who’s rampant views anoint the news
With all their bluff and bluster,
And so I trust you’ll see I must
Unleash the angst I muster!

These are the folk you called a joke
During the last election,
You found them bland, yet watched them stand
Like some half-cocked *******;
You would not think to share a drink
With them whilst watching football,
And if they pushed to gain your trust
You’d prob’ly give them ---- all!

So now I’m mad and rather sad
To see my friends conspiring
With nodding heads and “what he said’s”,
Perhaps you need re-wiring?
The EU vote has got your goat
And sides have to be taken,
But if you choose an MPs shoes
To follow you’re mistaken!

Go get online and spend the time
To do your own fact finding,
The vote you cast is going to last,
The outcome will be binding;
It matters not one single jot
To me, “you’re out”, “you’re in”,
Keep hold your pride and choose a side,
Don’t let the B------- win!
Thank you all SO MUCH for your support!
Your kind reception of my poetry truly
touches my HEART! My birthday is
on the 23rd and being so blessed as to
make the Daily Poem for the 20th has made my millennium! It's the best birthday present ever! I appreciate your kind words, reposts and ♡s. This community is the best
on the internet!

I know the most important and appropriate thing I could do to thank you:

READ YOUR POETRY! <===<<

I WILL NOT POST AGAIN UNTIL
ALL OF YOUR POETRY HAS BEEN READ
Every last person who has enjoyed
"when the words flow"

If I don't read right away I will be
on my way. I LOVE to read, but I'm
slow. I savor poetry and don't like to
skim and rush.

THANK YOU ALL!!!

And, most importantly, I thank
God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I am blessed beyond measure!

Is there anything more wonderful
Then being part of the poet’s corner?
Lucky am I to be a poetry lover!
A romance novelist used poetry to ponder
A story that changes and transforms
One’s heart.  Is there anything more wonderful?
Joining a poetry site, I blundered
My way to writing a poem, oh what torture!
But lucky am I to be a poetry lover.
Many offered their support, allowing me to discover
My path and slowly my writing became stronger.
Is there anything more wonderful?
So many inspired awe and wonder,
Giving me strength to claim my own corner,
Justifying my becoming a poetry lover.
To those who offered encouragement so tender
I offer my thanks and give honor.
Is there anything more wonderful
Than becoming a poetry lover?*
