My Former Country
Henry Akeru Oct 9
I once knew a land of open skies,
Where hope was bright, and dreams would rise.
Now hunger fills the streets with dread,
And empty hands reach out for bread.
The cost of living steals our breath,
In this place now shadowed by death.

The jobs we cherished now have fled,
Leaving the youth with futures bled.
Once bustling towns are silent, cold,
Their stories now too tired to be told.
The struggle lingers like the air,
In a land that’s lost its will to care.

The high cost of life breaks every heart,
Tearing families, worlds apart.
We sell our days to scrape and fight,
But darkness overtakes the light.
This isn’t the country I used to know,
Now sinking deep, lost in its woe.

My former country, where have you gone?
Your promises fade like the morning dawn.
What happened to the dreams we shared,
The hopes for which we once prepared?
Now we just survive, broken and torn,
In the ashes of a nation worn.
Nigeria
Henry Akeru Oct 6
In Africa’s heart, where the sun burns bright,
A thousand and half questions take flight.
In the soil where truth was meant to grow,
Lies weave shadows, hiding what we know.

In Nigeria’s streets, where the rivers bend,
We ask where justice and honor descend.
Yet silence speaks louder than the cries,
And we wonder, who measures the skies?

Whispers of promises lost in the night,
Candles burn out, leaving no guiding light.
A thousand and half answers drift away,
As hope and truth walk paths of dismay.

Still, we ask, though answers remain concealed,
In a land where lies are hardly revealed.
Will tomorrow’s dawn clear this endless haze,
Or will truth, too, dissolve in its blaze?
Sadly truth about how we Nigerians live under the spell of bad government

Where did all the oranges go?
The sweet and ripe, their golden glow,
Now scarce as dew on desert sand,
In a world that’s lost its careful hand.

The maidens once in gentle bloom,
Now shed their petals all too soon.
The blush of innocence, so rare,
Dissolves like mist into the air.

No shame remains, no modest blush,
The world now moves in careless rush,
And men, once bold with strength to lead,
Now chase the easy path of greed.

Lazy hands that reach for gain,
Without the toil, without the strain.
They flock like birds to fleeting fruit,
While roots are bare, the ground’s gone mute.

Where are the keepers of the land?
The ones who till with steady hand?
Who cherish harvest slow to grow,
And reap what careful hearts bestow?

But time will turn, as seasons show,
And seeds will find their way to sow.
Though oranges may seem so few,
In time, the trees will bear anew.

And when they bloom, may we recall,
The price of letting virtues fall.
For what is sweet is not so free,
It’s earned in love, in dignity.
The Rapidly changing world. Now lacking any form of Modesty.
Henry Akeru Sep 26
I used to fear the fire below,
The endless dark where sinners go,
But then I learned—how strange, how bright—
That Hell and Heaven share this light.

It’s here on earth, in what we give,
In how we choose each day to live,
Not flames or clouds, but what we make,
In love we show or hearts we break.

The tales I heard, of sin and shame,
Of wrathful gods who curse and blame,
They lost their hold, their bitter sting,
When truth appeared, a gentler thing.

For death is not the final door,
We rise again, return once more.
The cycle spins, a life renewed,
To mend the ways we once pursued.

Now Heaven’s found in every face,
In acts of kindness, threads of grace,
And Hell is in the hurt we leave,
The hearts we crush, the webs we weave.

So I don’t fear the judgment bell—
I used to be scared to go to Hell.
But now I know, it’s what we sow,
That shapes the world, the highs, the lows.

Reborn again, we rise, we fall,
In love’s great dance, I’ve seen it all.
Religion is for fear and fear is for Order.

Fiction
Henry Akeru Apr 18
You mindless thwarts. Repent from your unbelieve!
See the genius in fiction and bow to its supremacy.
For haven't the mind conceived so many great things?
Even the world was born out of Fiction....
For your unbelieve I pray you :
Wonder off the savanna. Reek to the world in shame !
Or else kiss the feet of the Mastery of mind.
For even that tiny space
And you clutching within onto breath,
Are figments of SOMEONE'S  imagination.
Let there be Light! And there came trillions packets of photons.

2023 is Now 2024
Henry Akeru Jan 1
Oh, 2023, a fleeting year in time,
Now replaced by 2024's chime.
With the turning clock, a new chapter unfolds,
A tale untold, in the book of life it molds.

The echoes of yesterday softly fade,
As the dawn of a fresh era is laid.
In the canvas of time, strokes anew,
Patterns of moments, both old and true.

Resolutions and hopes, like stars align,
In the vast cosmos of possibilities entwined.
Oh, 2024, with your untrodden ways,
What secrets lie beneath your cosmic haze?

New beginnings sprout like spring's first bloom,
In the garden of fate, where destinies loom.
A chant of moments, a rhythm profound,
As the hands of time continue to astound.

Let's cherish memories of the past,
Yet embrace the future, vast and vast.
For in this transition, a chance to explore,
The untamed wonders of 2024.
Earth has completed one full spin around the Orbits of the Sun.

In Nigeria's political theatre, a tale unfolds,
The Hausa-Fulani’s, in power they hold.
For years, the ruling class they've been,
Yet education's light, they've scarcely seen.

Unwavering they stand, a united force,
Dominating cities, charting a course.
Enterprising minds, business savvy and bold,
In the market of life, their stories are told.

Marriage bonds woven within their tribe,
A tradition upheld, where sentiments imbibe.
Ethnicity and religion, threads of identity,
In the mosaic of Nigeria's vast diversity.

Through the corridors of power, they navigate,
A web of connections, a potent state.
Unity binds them, a familial embrace,
Supporting each other in life's challenging race.

In the embrace of tradition, they find strength,
A tapestry woven, a cultural length.
Love and support, a pillar so tall,
Hausa-Fulani’s, standing proud, standing tall.

In the heart of the nation, their legacy thrives,
A paradox unfolds, where wisdom derives.
For though uneducated ratio may be high,
The bonds they share reach up to the sky.

A political dynasty with tales to unfurl,
Hausa-Fulanis, a complex swirl.
In the dance of power, a rhythm unique,
A story echoing through history's mystique.

Why Always Me
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
In the land of Igbo, where stories unfold,
A soul bears burdens, both young and old.
"Why always me?" the heart does plea,
In the rhythm of life, a poignant decree.

Beneath the palm trees, where breezes sigh,
Ancestral echoes in the crimson sky.
Through the hustle of markets, tales untold,
The query persists, a narrative bold.

Is it the weight of history, a heavy chain?
Or destiny's dance in the pouring rain?
In the dance of kola, where traditions blend,
"Why always me?"—a query to comprehend.

Through the bustling cities and village lanes,
Resides a spirit resilient, amidst life's strains.
In the echoes of language, a melodic plea,
"Why always me?" in the Igbo symphony.

Yet, amid challenges, strength does rise,
In the tapestry of struggles, where hope lies.
Through the echoes of ancestors, resilience we see,
A vibrant spirit asking, "Why always me?"
The Struggle of a grossly Marginalized Igbo eastern tribe of Nigeria.

Blood Bath
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
The plot was to make us cower is fear.
But now they have made the youths very angry.
Anger kills fear just as light kills darkness.

20-10-20: The new tribal mark on the faces of every Nigerian youth.

All I see is blood.
Blood of the youth
Blood of dreamers
Blood of freedom
Blood of justice
Nigeria is bleeding:
Fresh vibrant blood

To be free...
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
If there is ever a time  I can be free
Then that time should be now.
I wanna be a tree in the wild
Sorrounded solely by my redolence.
i wanna be like the night bat
Free to roam the ethreal essence.
I wanna drink like a sailor
And read every line like a geek.
Like a breathtaken borned butterfly,
I'll dance samba in  the zithering zephyr
I wanna be  free; free to be me!
Jumb of a cliff and bounce on the cotton clouds

But these are just wishes
For every time i am awake
I'm trapped within these stuccoed walls.
I really wanna be free .
They say get better dont get bitter.
I'm working on switching them letters
They say pain hurts and fear hates..
I say pain strenghtens and fear draws faith
When am free i will wash away every doubt
I will take my time..Maybe this time.
A note to myself.

The Compulsory Flight
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
Will i go into my Casket
with a stranded beam of light?
Will there be laid a Basket
Of fruits and assorted to ease my flight?

I wonder which expression to wear
A grin, a smile, a frown, or a Smirk
Maybe tight lips to aid the fear,
Of being abandoned in a world so dark.

Perhaps I should acquire a shovel
To burrow into the earth a grave?
Buy a tipper load of gravel;
Decorate the epitaph on which my name's engraved

I wish my remains be burned.
I dread being trapped in a box.
Dust we are so to the air we belong ...
Let my ashes be free to scatter eastward.

The true and pretended weeping
Of loved ones and those indifferent
Did nothing to ease my Passing
Smile and cheer let your energy not be Spent.

Check my Vault and you will find
Nothing but memories previously stored.
The sun shines on vanity; all the time be Kind
Love is Key. My floating ash smiles at you all.
Tribute to death. A compulsory phase for all mankind.
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
A mystery woven in threads unseen,
Stars above hint at a pattern keen.
Time dances, a chance so fine,
Yet fools attempt its intricate line.

Paradox veiled in a shroud of mist,
Secrets exist by nature's twist.
The fool, unafraid of the unknown,
Tries to grasp what can't be shown.

Through time's corridors they stray,
Chasing echoes of an elusive display.
Destiny, a riddle, a story untold,
Only fools seek its secrets bold.

In folly, a grace still finds its place,
Daring spirits in the fool's embrace.
For in the quest, though plans may shift,
Wisdom blooms in the sands adrift.

So let fools dream till the dawn,
On Destiny's nature, pondering on.
In the pursuit of the divine,
Only fools find treasures in Destiny's sign.

How Will I die
Henry Akeru Dec 2023
In the heart of the savannah, 'neath the African sky,
A tale unfolds of a life, a journey, oh, so high.
Beneath the baobab's shade, where stories are spun,
How will I depart when my time is done?

Will it be in the rhythm of the tribal drum,
Amidst the whispers of ancestors, hum by hum?
Beneath the acacia's branches, where lions roam free,
In nature's embrace, will my spirit find glee?

Shall I rest with the sunset, a fiery display,
As the horizon ignites, marking the end of the day?
In the dance of the rain, on the red-earthed ground,
Will my essence, like droplets, be joyously found?

Ancestors' whispers linger in the rustling leaves,
Tales of life and death, where the soul believes.
In the cradle of Africa, where spirits soar high,
I'll find my farewell in the African sky.
On a gloomy Night, A thought crossed my Mind; How will Die?
This is a fun Poem. I have decided to Live a life fraught with LOVE and ADVENTURE.

I Just Don't know how.
Henry Akeru Sep 2021
I don't know how it was
Or how it came to be.
All I know is now I'm drunk with life
And very full of rhymes.
Poetry is my Lunch and dinner.
The sunrise is light breakfast.
I remember being muted
By the loudness of thy charm.
maybe that was when I tripped
Due to the solid strength of feminine firmness.
Evident in the way you weighed your step.
I wish I could tell the exact time and place
Or maybe narrate a story on a slate...
A proper narrative with perfect imagery
To paint the spark you've brought herein.
But in all honesty, I can't.
I Just don't know-how.

BLUE
Henry Akeru Sep 2021
The elegant breeze whistled like a blue flute.
Your floral gown; blue
Danced expertly to its broken blue tune.
Your smile was another color and blue.
From your hands grew a rose
A rose whose color i won't disclose.
This is a poem for Blue
So any color mentioned will be taboo.
Underneath the open covers of blue skies.
A serenade of blue butterflies scattered forth
when blue hearts joined in a bluish kiss.
Electric like the blue taste of mint mouthwash
A blue is like the shine of Sapphire and Topaz
The blue of Absence
When mean rain splash mercilessly on blue panes
And i lay helplessly ensconced in blue covers.
The provocative blue in Pinocchio Lies
Within the blue solace of gingers depths.

Melted Wax
Henry Akeru Apr 2020
This is something I will do ;
Steal a candle at night to write you a poem.
A wind crept in through my window
It landed on my Chin and I smiled.
My mind danced like the stranded candle flame:
Happiness!.
I remembered the flicker in your eyes.
Magical! I was entailed. Many faced one.
Yes! Many faces you’ve got each new.
I kissed you. Not with my lips;
My heart did. And yes it was Magical!
My world is a Metallic Frame.
Behind bars, my slender arm reached out.
My slender arms were not long enough.
Like wax, It melted.
Hoping to regain my form on a shapeless candle stand.

WET FLOOR
Henry Akeru Oct 2019
The wet floor sign has been raised for the tears.
Blood in the eyes. Bleeding pain and fear.
I walked carefully lest I slip.
Sleep deserted, the pillow soaked not the ******.

A sip of the abandoned wine.
Brought about the washing of guts.
More tears: the floor becomes really slippery this time.
Time took flight then crashed to a halt in shame.

Taking careful steps lest I fall.
Out of the cavity came dry bullets
The sign called: EVEN WETTER FLOOR!
Then I slipped into sleep against all Odds
I broke the heart of a woman i love so much.

Just because you await what is yet to come?

Or flood yourself in the desert of  Dreadful Lies?

My Thoughts
Henry Akeru Feb 2019
My thought is like the Gold Crown
So tiny yet so dear.
But make a little smoochy sound
And It disappears.

My thought is like the desert.
So vast and so dry.
Heat and dust will make you merry.
Flooded in the mirage of truth.

My thought is like the ocean,
Reflecting the shimmering sun
Yet hiding so many slimy Secrets
Hunting me with dark dreams

My thought is like the moon
Glorious at night
Yet shy at day
In it holds power and MIght.

My thought is my blanket in the snow
My ice in the Heat
My light for the nights
And my forever playmate.
Word play.

Conquer the garden to give you Roses.

I will wrestle the wind and the sky
on eagles wings to give you earth.

A tsunami will I cause to unravel
The treasure hidden beneath the ocean for you.

For I love you with the love of old:
my humble heart I present in a golden chalice.

If I could dance
I still wouldn't dance with you
What use is the music
When we dance a different step?

If I could sing

To be far away from your LAND!

She Joy is a crown
Which he must adorn

maybe I might reach passion:

Henry Akeru Dec 2018
whenever i hold you close
I feel invincible.
Something like gold in the crust.
From dawn till dusk
To drink from the aura of thy musk
A soothing release from harsh reality.

Whenever I Kiss thy lips
Invincible my bones become.
Something like a diamond sheathed power.
Year in and year out
To sip from thy ***** of grace
a painless drift from the hibbie-jibbies of existence.

Whenever I stray away from you.
My defenses collapse and I die;
A choking breath from an excess breeze.
My bones become washed.

Manipulation
Henry Akeru Aug 2018
Barrage of societal Pressure,

The quicksand beneath Success.

Who paves the way

To the narrow curves with thorns,

Family or Foes?

Thin air provides the deceitful mask of comfort

Nothing is real.

Life is as dead as a shadow

With a surreal ghost. Supported by a strand

We are all dark matter. We are Rusty.

Yet we hold on to hopeless Hopes

And dark dreamy dreams.
We are noth' but puppets.

Who is the puppeteer?

Who decides the end?

For now, we swing to the strings of manipulation

Until this shadow fades into the dark Light.

Crown her Nails.
Henry Akeru Aug 2018
I wonder why I get lost
Every time my mind wonders to Her.

She greets my heart first
With a furry of freshness so tender.

Her native announces her with "Nkiru"
Royalty with a golden Haem in her vein.

When She steps the roses blossoms by,
Perfuming the arena with an aromatic Reign.

A dime that can crack the ice,.
With the pick in her touch, she revives a dewy rain.

When she  switches on the globe in her lense,
On me a shadow of passion rest

Mimosa Pudica I am, her touch awakens my Sense.
Like the sky, she absorbs my sandy smoke with zest.

She is my mirror image
through my every gesture she sees

She is the second Eve to whom I bow.
The breast in her mouth forms nectar I **** like a buzzing bee.

At night a silent whisper to her i send
Patterned and adorned like a swallowtail

A gentle prayer
Indeed to keep her safe 'till I crown her nails...
to the woman, i fell in love with "nkiru"

Gasoline
Henry Akeru Apr 2018
Smells like heaven

Yet it burns like hell.

This gasoline love of yours;

The soot as it burns

has blinded me well.

When Our lips brushed..

And we purge with passions

Your love like gasoline

explodes my shredded senses.

Whenever Supple Skin meets.

When I spread my arms

It flirted into space.

This gasoline like love

Snakes ghostly like sneaky steam.

smoking out of my Embrace.

Just like a match

My destiny is to burn

Your gasoline love

Consumed my essence

Producing a red torch of my destiny.

If I Was Asked To Write.
Henry Akeru Mar 2018
If I was asked to write a story
I will write about hope
For the little she child
Germinating like weeds in the streets.

Pivoting a tray on frail neck.
Hawking fruits while books lay dormant.

Look at Her!
Lemons sprouts abruptly:
Buns smeared with oils of lust.
The she child: An object of *******.

Forced out of secure fences
By the fierce fire of hunger and starvation.

Mummy told her not to talk to strangers
But to strangers she must sell
Out of sight and out of cover
She was pounced on and devoured!

Another maiden is bleeding red tears.
A child becomes a mother!

Even if I had a mandate to write
On clean placards for all to see In white.
I wont waste my ink and sheets
For this generation does not read nor see.
I write for poor children in Africa.. Especially the woman  child whom are mostly victims of **** and molestation..

Love will Tear Us Apart
Henry Akeru Mar 2018
Glancing at the rain bathing the pane
We kissed tenderly as the lightning hissed.
Our nails ate into sumptuous skin;
This Love Will Tear Us Apart!
The electric music of washing water ceased.
The shy Sun, at last, was free from the prison of Creamy-clouds
We ran out to play and bath with the damp wind
Not knowing this Love Will Tear Us Apart!
In your eyes, I saw my frame beautifully crafted,
Cushioned with the mastery of wants and desires.
When our fingers lock I feel a surge of flame
Instantly I knew this Love would rip us Apart.
Nights turn to day and laughter to snoring.
Ticking time knacks its Danceless tune on plain walls
As distance swallowed up all space between us
That was when love TORE US APART.
The pains of a distant and helpless Relationship.

Shade of Ash
Henry Akeru Feb 2018
Slowly she walked
Like a leaf traveling with the wind.
On her face was a shade of Ash.
She could collapse a bridge
With the venom of her rage.
Yet she chose to smile
'cos her baby bade her So.
Wash her smile did the Ash
And safely on the bridge towered.
For her rage has come to rest.
She loves him and he too.
A lovely day and a well saved memory!

The smile you have

Soft and silky like a lions royal mane!

Tick Tick Tock tock it goes
Speaking the tongue of the old
Round and round the hands do spin
Spilling the guts of man and the wellness within.

Check and Check a must you have
lest u varnish in its tide and mist
It yawns and growls its bowel is starved!
Three long arms that punch without molding a fist.

Time oh time you stole HIs life!
made Him wrinkle and wriggly like winter.
Why do we live a life of strife?
If time clocks and washes us all away like a passing river.

Am Just a bird with wings
But too weak to escape to reality.
Am too weak to swim as a fish
Drowning in my ocean of doubt.
My faith is in the desert;
Drying to a dead End.
Drunk elders said emphatically;
Don't get bitter get better.
But My bitterness is now Sweet,
Sweeter than the bitterness of truth.
JUST LET ME!
Am weary of false promises,
They are like worms festering my ears.
JUST LET ME BE!
Am not going to listen no more.
I have tasted the truth and now am free!
JUST LET ME BE!
Am a bird..I live in the Sky
But i bathe with warm sand when cold.

So ready I am to fall in love with the Wind.

As heavy as a kite am a memory so clear.

Like venom, I snake down your cheek when you Cry
Am not a regret yet I make you Ask Why?
I am A giver, not a Lack

I make you scream a silent roar
Am your escape and rebirth; Future, now and then!
I am a Dream and a story I can tell.
I am a breach of gravity I make you SOAR!

Elixir of Hope
Henry Akeru Aug 2017
She has smiley fiercesome eyes
She could melt any walls with it.
Her smile has eyes of its own
It flashes like neon and cinders.

From a dense crowed
The aura of her presence could be read.
A silence of her Loud!
In the pureness of Oneliness her soul is lead.

There was a change;
of weather it seemed and a dull reigned
Her face was drained;
Of life and the blossoming therein slewed

Oh if only one could mop
This dew of sadness now rested on Her.
Using an elixir of hope
Maybe her smile will be reborn...Alas!

SOMETIMES
Henry Akeru Aug 2017
SOMETIMES
Sometimes things are better shared softly
like powder smeared on a baby's **** lest they go red with rashes.

Sometimes better early tears are shed Slowly
Then left to build and burst forth like volcanoes!

Sometimes a broken bone is cured with a Crack
'Cos when Pampered is left to swell and rotten.

Sometimes life is spent swimming in the pool of the past
And the present existence is left dry and cranky

Sometimes a Lie is meant to Ignite the truth
But the effect is not impressive like a firework!

Sometimes when anger burns like Sulfur
It takes only the ice of patience to quench it.

Sometimes we tend to drink in mysterious light
while our souls lurk in the shadow of myseries

Sometimes an Echo is just a friendly reminder
That the unstuccoed walls do have ears that listen.

Most of the times 'LOVE' is all we truly need
And a bounty of it is stuffed in the stars

I meant different
Henry Akeru Aug 2017
Not what I said
Well, literally what I said
But I swear you
I meant different!

Not what you see
Well, physically what you see.
But I pray you
I meant different.

Not what you hear
Well, words pry arid air
But I beseech you don't listen.
I meant different.

Many times actions
Break the bond of spoken words
But I pray you hear my heart
See I've always meant it differently.
Always Mis-understood.

Memories
Henry Akeru Aug 2017
Like an army of bold stallions
Your memories raised dust in my Heart.
like the golden of the setting sun
You make my smile a sight to behold!
And when the duty roll is called
And i step out with my swinging cord
To swirl and dance to rhythms unheard
And see to the burst of colorful fire works.
In a posh valley we shall seat and drink,
smiling back at our reflections on silvery streams....
i felt a push within me
A familiar life came sliding through;
it was love!
I was not in love for i am its Mum:Through me it was formed.
Out it came coated red like a rose.
It scented fresh like frost in winter.
My Plumped lips parted to a Smile and curved to a frown,
As the horses raced your memories away
A dusty view was all i had,
wishing to see thy oval face again!

Necta from the Gods
Henry Akeru Aug 2017
Okoro, Nwafor, and Ejike.
Three unwise men from the Floral east
Where spurred by an atavistic urge
To visit the Shrine of NWOKE
The Hedonist! The keeper
Of the frothy Necta
That soothes anxiety with oils of pleasure.
At the crack of dawn.
The keeper makes a journey
Far into the blurry thickest
Were he ascending to the heavenly
And communes with the deities
As a Reward
He is blessed with Necta
With which he curses Men.
From ***** crow to sunset
The Shrine of Palmfonds
Is never void of men.
Poor Devils!
Seeking to ease the heebie-jeebies of existence.
But the talisman is temporal!
The spirit only possesses for a night.
It flees by dawn cos it fears the light.
The three unwise men from the Floral east
Made another visit to the Shrine.
They became faithful.
They live only on the poisonous Necta
FIT ONLY FOR THE GODS.
Nectar is the rich wine tapped from the famous palm tree scattered aboundantly in the eastern part of Nigeria

Mother
Henry Akeru Jul 2017
MOTHER! You who prays relentlessly for me
So I don't join the devil and his band of thieves
     .
MOTHER! You whose breast I once clung for life!
My golden arch. My eternal heavenly Prize.

MOTHER! When weary and coated  with frozen fear
You massaged me with the balm of motherly Care

MOTHER! You said to me "love and learn to live happily"
One mute morning  while we drank the February breeze

MOMMY:
Again you add  yet a tiny year
The jolly-july clouds match in square .
Celebrating a Gem that's meek and fair .
I sing songs and post poem Everywhere
Marking the birth of my GOLDEN SPEAR!

Nkem
Henry Akeru Jul 2017
I remember being locked in the pumpkin of her own eyes.
Smiles that catch Snow and burn fire.
She is Nkem, Yes, My  Nkem! She sparkles more than she glitters;
More than even the brightest Star.
She is a canvas; colored with all the shades of beauty.
Like the Udala tree is Sacred.
She could pass for a goddess if she is not one already
So in my heart, her temple is Laid.

Age
Henry Akeru Jul 2017
Age
When age Speaks beauty not the pain of pension regrets and Missed adventures.

When is Age is light as a kite
But is heavily glazed with Wisdom.

When the youths obscure sight
Is a mirror foresight reflecting before one?

Truth
Henry Akeru Jul 2017
I seek not to hide in truth
Or swirl in the spirals of honesty.
I just want to rock with ease
And draw on the canvas of life with smiley strokes.
I seek not to ravel you with words
Or drown you in the sugar sweetness of my rhymes
But to open up your souls to the silent songs of hope.

Girl from the stair
Henry Akeru Jul 2017
A certain ray of light pierced day
As if to burst the bubble into colored beams.
In the dazzle of the day a bloke felt moody;
Trapped in the maze of his voiceless mind
As he walked oblivious of passion to his prison
Yet prepared he was not for the finery he was yet to see.
A chill crept through his Snaky spine:
When his fell eyes fell to the gravity of the being descending-
The Murky dusty Creamy Stairs
A goddess! regaling in a fiercely flowery gown
Embracing her Sculptured Succulent frame.
She met his eyes with the force of a stray beam of light.
A thud was heard as his heart exploded down his bowel.
Her presence decorated the air stylishly with a musk of femininity.
All at ones he became alert of nature's essence.
An instant Hum perfumed the epicenter of his sordid heart.
He reached out to touch her slender arms
As he breathed almost mechanically "You are beautiful"

Adele and Ansel
Henry Akeru Apr 2017
When all is well and Swell
And the glassy sea spill out shells
      The majesty of its ell
       On me cast a spell
My nostrils twitch to the glorious smell...
I revere at the beauty therein kept
And the life it gave my latent cell.
A sudden golden gong gushed from a bell!
A gush from within i knew well
         Images: forms of my Angel
Blissful thoughts of love held me like a gel,
          And then I fell!
Head Swirling like a loose thread held by a peg.
To bow and follow my noble Adelle
A course thus set for this Ansel!
