XXIV

Let the world’s sharpness, like a clasping knife,
Shut in upon itself and do no harm
In this close hand of Love, now soft and warm,
And let us hear no sound of human strife
After the click of the shutting. Life to life—
I lean upon thee, Dear, without alarm,
And feel as safe as guarded by a charm
Against the stab of worldlings, who if rife
Are weak to injure. Very whitely still
The lilies of our lives may reassure
Their blossoms from their roots, accessible
Alone to heavenly dews that drop not fewer,
Growing straight, out of man’s reach, on the hill.
God only, who made us rich, can make us poor.
Ah, could I lay me down in this long grass
And close my eyes, and let the quiet wind
Blow over me—I am so tired, so tired
Of passing pleasant places!  All my life,
Following Care along the dusty road,
Have I looked back at loveliness and sighed;
Yet at my hand an unrelenting hand
Tugged ever, and I passed.  All my life long
Over my shoulder have I looked at peace;
And now I fain would lie in this long grass
And close my eyes.
                   Yet onward!
                               Cat birds call
Through the long afternoon, and creeks at dusk
Are guttural.  Whip-poor-wills wake and cry,
Drawing the twilight close about their throats.
Only my heart makes answer.  Eager vines
Go up the rocks and wait; flushed apple-trees
Pause in their dance and break the ring for me;
Dim, shady wood-roads, redolent of fern
And bayberry, that through sweet bevies thread
Of round-faced roses, pink and petulant,
Look back and beckon ere they disappear.
Only my heart, only my heart responds.
Yet, ah, my path is sweet on either side
All through the dragging day,—sharp underfoot
And hot, and like dead mist the dry dust hangs—
But far, oh, far as passionate eye can reach,
And long, ah, long as rapturous eye can cling,
The world is mine: blue hill, still silver lake,
Broad field, bright flower, and the long white road
A gateless garden, and an open path:
My feet to follow, and my heart to hold.
You.
Like a parasite, you've entered my blood
Stream and spread through my body.
Like cancer, you've grown and multiplied
Faster than I could **** you.
Like weeds you've taken over everything
I had and grown over it.
Like alcohol I'm dependant on you and
The feeling of you and the touch  of you.

You.
You may be bad for me,
But I can't give you up.
Every "hello" contains
cancerous cells of "goodbye"

Some will never breed well
others will grow to a malignant farewell.
Rain swept away our pain
From the empty nights filled with
Cold stares and cold stares.
The storm blew through
Tearing to shreds all that we regret
Leaving only the foundation

The skies teardrops
intermingled with ours
as our eyes smiled again.
On the swing, God sprinkled
us with evening dew
and "I love you".

We sprinted as it poured
and the bell chimes echoed
through the foggy air.
I saw us  run out church doors
I saw us hold a little hand in our arms
I saw us breath with finality.

As the water dripped down our spines,
magic emanated from our bones,
flowing out of our souls,
And darling, it was beautiful.
inspiration and imagination leeks through the hollow walls and onto the sticky floor of strawberry flavoured *****.
boys and girls kiss and touch while the poison seeps into their blood and i sit and
watch
everything
i watch the liquor move
i watch the bodies
i watch the sticky ecstasy in the air
i feel too
i feel the breath of my peers
i feel the heat of close skin
i feel the lips of strangers on my neck
i feel strangers hands run up my thighs
i watch and i feel and i experience and i submerge into a world that's unlike anything ive ever seen
it's a world so far from my cautious thoughts and frightened heart
here i can taste your skin on my teeth and i can feel your nails dig into my rib cage as your lips become hypnotic and addictive
here i am wrong in a devils game
