The best part about
Being a rule-breaker
Was the beautiful fact
That we did it *together

I write for many reasons
I write to express things I’ve
Kept bottled up for too long
I write for the people out there
Who share a small smile at the
Fact they know  exactly  what
Is going on with me
I write for the people who read what
I write because they support me as
Much as they can and especially in this
I write for the people who these anonymous
Poems go to in hopes they see it’s about them
And how I’m feeling
But I think I write most of all to not
Be forgotten. That at some point when
I leave this place I won’t just be a dead
Branch on an old family tree that’s never
Talked about. I write so that maybe some
Future person will read it and think how
Much this important and contribute to
Whatever they call this age in future books
I write to never be forgotten and who can
Blame me? Doesn’t everyone want to be
*Immortal?

sanch kay
poetry lives
not just in the dreamy glow of the moon
across your lover's eyes
on a perfect evening, or the
mesmerising game of light
and shadows dancing on
moving waters, through
wooded greens;
no,
poetry lives in
the little things you
don't see and don't say:
the sharp edges of heartbreak, the
magnanimity of forgiveness, the
soft sighs of love that
*won't go away.

Can't even finish a sentence
without being stressed
with every little thing I write
with every little math problem I solve
Because for some reason I can't do it right.

Can't even finish a thought
without being consumed
with all the anxiety
with all the fear
because for some reason they expect me to do it right.

Can't even finish a task
without being engulfed
with a headache
with a stomach ache
because now I'm not feeling right.

Can't even finish this poem
without being overwhelmed
with every little math problem
with all the anxiety
with a headache
All because I want to do it right.

I'm grateful for your service
If you served our nation
And you did what you had to do

One grandfather served
In North Africa
And faced Rommel's Korps

The other survived countless hours
Of depth charges
On a submarine
And returned safely to shore

Thank you veterans for your service
We are in debt to you
