suspended vertical defying       human limitations
bound in heaven's threads they perform
an aerial arabesque        costumes torn, scattering
sequins and halos on their ethereal descent
as the crowd watches         breath harmonized,
almost willing them to fall

if air had been my mistress, I could have chosen
to soar        the allure of existing only
in this angels' abode where letting go
relies on faith and testament of art
evanescent         as we all prepare
for this our final show

Pluck the leaves off autumn trees
Float them down the river
Watch the currents carry their dance
Fall a few steps out of time
Feel the cool air shiver
You'll never have another chance

Oh if you live this life
At a constant speed
You'll miss all the sights
You were intended to see

Run your toes thru the morning dew
Whistle a tune with the morning birds
Chase the taste of sunshine on your skin
Get lost in yourself and become you again

Oh if you live this life
At a constant speed
You'll miss all the sights
You were intended to see

Fill your lungs with bonfire breeze
Realize you have all you need
A few cold brews
And friends to keep you company

Oh if you live this life
At a constant speed
You'll miss all the sights
You were intended to see

Sing along with the wolves
Howling at the moon
It will all be gone all too soon
Stare into the night
You're never far from a star
As long as you are
Who you are

Time is a construct of our mind
But too fast it passes us by
It seems we're only born to die
Laying memories on graves
We weren't ready to say goodbye

So don't live this life
At a constant speed
You'll miss all the sights
You were made to see

Oh if you live this life
At a constant speed
You'll miss all the sights
You were intended to see
I have neglected to mention
the most important part.
That it's you and only you,
that holds my heart.
I'm not sure who you are, but you have it.

When you
wake up in the morning
do your bones
ache?
Have you forgiven
yourself?
Because I
haven't,
and I don't understand
why you get to
feel less guilty than
I do
even though
you're the one
who's done wrong.

Your body
Is a creation of the galaxies
A coming together of milky ways and solar flares

When I first saw you, I was stunned
At the sheer amount of stardust it would take
To make something that beautiful

Your body
Is a glass case
Struggling to hold rivers in your veins
Herds of wild horses in your chest
The monarch migration in your stomach

Slowly you are cracking
The glass relenting to the spirit it cannot hold
But when it breaks you will not hurt
You will be free

My fear sleeps so far
tonight, cradled lovingly
in the arms of faith.
I've put it off long enough.  Wish me strength and spirit, please.
Fire in turn can caress or can burn
but
of the elemental forces it is
fire that courses through these veins where madness reigns,
Knighted in blood and wearing a hood made from Sulphur and steel, match me,
come catch me aflame, come feel the heat in the game we call strife.
Life can be hot
depends who you've got for your friends,
asbestos tends to deflect me,
do I
detect that in you?
