Morning sits close on the horizon
and as dew starts to frost
a lovers kiss is cleansed from my lips
as memories once so vivid
begin to be forgot,

another night is wasted
as streaks of rouge paint the skies
I'll bid you farewell once again
and wait for darkness to return,

for in the night I am the rain
bleeding tainted words and spilt ink onto ****** sheets.

You live fearful
that every night
the ghosts you keep in your heart
may find their way out
and eat you from within,
so that as the dawn breaks
and crimson stains grey skies
you stare bleary eyed, into the mirror of your soul
and fail to see
the demon staring right back at you.

The pleasure of the text is that once it’s out there, it no longer belongs to the author. It’s now owned by whomever reads it or in some ways, is touched by it. I suppose that now, it belongs to you. Maybe everything I have ever written and will ever write belongs to you. And I hope that you find comfort in these simple words. Because it was only ever meant for you, whoever you may be.

When you finally realise
that all your precious rhymes
were wasted
on flitting butterflies
you'll walk away embittered,
lonely, and out of time
with nothing but fading memories
like a phantom limb
of the heat that comes
from that someone else's hand
in yours.

And to me
you will remain
forever a secret
as I am afraid
to speak of you
in case the words fail me,
turning the sacred
into the profane.

Have you ever been in love?

Well I have.
Because you are;
my sin
my absolution
my redeeming qualities
my heartbeat
my muse
everything

(I will never have).

My dear, you are rousing
   Exciting and stirring
     Soul searing
       Tear jerking
         Heart pounding
           Earth shattering
But never mine to begin with.

A suicide of words
falling from my lips
onto deaf ears
yet I suffocate,
as the emptiness resonates
silently dawn veils me
in her shimmering blues
her passion bruising my skin
she takes me from within.

Is your heart so big
that you needed a compass
to find your way
to where my love was stored?

Is your heart so big
that you needed to fill each room
with anyone whose smile
was wider or brighter than your own?

Is your heart so big
that you had so much love to share
that you couldn't shower
all of it on me?

Is your heart so big
that you thought you could
invest in love
and spend it on two souls equally?

Is your heart so big
that you thought you could keep
me from the truth
that your heart
wasn't big enough for me?

By only moon light
I want you to read me like a book
trace your fingers along my spine

and discover the passages
written just for you
breathe in the scent of secrets

hidden between the sheets
as you count the freckles on my skin
a constellation leading me home to you.

I can't look at you without feeling hurt
but in time
  I may find
that I love you more
(than I ever should have)
   with time,
  strange how a hairline crack
can sometimes feel
like multiple fractures.

Your touch is like
the flutter
of butterfly wings
ghosting on my skin,
setting off an explosion of fireworks
causing ripples in time
and tsunamis to form
halfway across the world.
