You made a poet fall in love with you
And expected her not to write sonnets about your eyes
Haikus about the way you kissed her in the moonlight
Expected the fire in her heart not to inspire couplets
You made a poet fall in love with you, and when you left
Expected her not to write pages about the ache in her chest
Write a soliloquy dedicated to her tears
Expected her not to feel every gut wrenching moment of the pen hitting paper like your words hit her in the most vulnerable places of her mind.
You made a poet fall in love with you, and you expected her to be silent.
That is no fault of hers.

I'm certainly not
exquisite in how I word
out my true feelings.

I can't paint a Van
Gogh of my emotions for
you, nor would I try.

I don't even know
why I feel the way I feel,
it simply spews out.

It's as though there's just
one little string holding me
back that I can't find.

If only I could
figure out what it is I
want out of this life.

Maybe then I could
stop writing poems I don't
like and start living.

As the huntsman led her into these woods
Deeper and deeper they fared
He carefully whispered in her ear
That only of herself she should be scared

She agreed that once your path was chosen
And you were too far to doubt
It was better to convince yourself
There was nothing to worry about

So she followed him deeper and deeper
Convincing herself that she found the right way
Knowing perfectly well that the huntsman
Would become the wolf that would lead her astray

Another war ensues
deep within my chest.
The past has made me stronger now, yet I feel
until I’m dragged down to the blazing flames of defeat, again
it won’t rest.

I keep fighting,
with all my skills from the past
But the war yet continues
with the fervent desire to last

This war doesn't **** you,
you either win or face defeat,
although winning it is quite a feat!
Whatever the outcome,
I’ll be proud of myself that I fought
But the darkness will only grow
If once again I lost.

This is my second attempt at poetry. Hope you like. I'd love to get your feedback if they can help me write better poems in the future.

Thank you!

A place with elves
dwarves, hobbits and men
A place with tales
We hear again and again

A place with adventure
That will never die
A place to laugh
And a place to cry

A place with songs
Of ancient days
Sung by elves
Merry and gay

A place where you hear
The hobbits laughter
Where they live
Happily ever after

Where mountains are filled
With silver and gold
Where the dwarves mine
Mighty and bold

A place with men
In cities of stone
And their great king
Sits on a beautiful throne

A place with lore
To others unknown
A place that I love
A place that's my own

There I live
And there will I die
In middle earth
My heart will lie
