I got thoughts
walking down a street
i see
neon
women
barber poles red white
lingerie shops
most of them ******
long tall Sally's in skirts
strong structures tall
svelte windowed like
covergirls
ice cream cone taking licking
x rated things
I must be liberated
once I got turned on
ordering tacos
at this Mexican restaurant
I liked her accent

Alice
'The sun loved
the moon so much
that he died
every night
to let her breathe.'

the beautiful forbidden lovers
never able to meet
to share warm kisses

but I remember the sneaky Moon
she sneaks out of her dark domain
I see her in bright daylight
swathed in the Sun's golden touch
opposite in the sky
they watch each other
with love so pure

although she is forbidden
in his bright domain
she is there
because she believes
that nothing is impossible

and the day comes
when they can meet
for but a few minutes
they embrace in fire
and we stare in wonder
as they meet
but then they must
drift apart
with broken hearts

she blows him kisses
whispers
'goodnight, my love'
as he sinks beneath the horizon
bursting into colors
and the Moon cries
and whispers
⠀⠀
'I love you.'❋
To: the long awaited Eclipse.

River bamboo arrayed in lace tiers
consoles the birdbath on its loss of robins
Intemperate August staggers in liquored air
of wavery heat and layered sighs

Leaves relinquish their rush
toward this “ripe on time”
Blackberry brambles have ceased to reach
now bow to ponder their plunder
while petunias, those bold delinquents!
bloom as if the frost’s lethal cling
were some myth
the antique roses had made up

Bud, bloom, revive!
See the generation of the bee!
Bud, bloom, survive—
to do it all again
for the single sake...
of treasuring beginning in the end...

Her bicycle, my geranium
have found eternity together
on the sun spattered patio

She—
opens the screen door
as I—
climb the morning stairs
She—
squints smiles amongst sleepy freckles
who has not brushed her hair
in a late August moment of not caring

And I know it will all happen anyway
no matter what I do....
...And it has happened-- my daughters grown and gone... the wonderful home along the river, torn down for the building of a levee.  I'm glad I wrote this-- like a bookmark among so many memories.

paper cut
my skin
with unspoken
emotions
for my voice
failed to give
them their
proper justice

Traveler
It occurs to me
I don't belong here
As I laughed aloud
And look Beyond
I can barely remember
But we go way back
To a place where
Travelers are from

There is no lesson
To be learnt here
Clearly I see
My every flaw
I know you're out there
Watching
Waiting
I know I broke
The golden law

I'm not like those other Travelers
The ones who came
And touched them all
I lost my nerve
I lost my way
I lost the world
In one big fall

Yes I'm ready to go now
As I await
The Traveler's call...
