Walter W Hoelbling
unburdened by knowledge
or traditions of polite civility
some powermongers
     brazenly
demand attention of the media
force their way onto title pages
assuming that bland lies
     combined with contradictions
     and outrageous stupidities
     mostly echoing sycophantic TV news
will satisfy their followers
ensure their loyalty
and even guarantee
their reelection into higher office

     there is a tendency
     to underestimate ‘the people’

they usually take their time to watch
and talk  and reconsider
     after all
     one does not lightly
     throw away the expectations
one has projected onto the preferred

then comes the point
when ruthless ignorance
      and greed for power
become too obvious
      too much

people no longer do approve

the powermonger tumbles from his throne
his reign remembered as a somber blob
in people’s history
This is a bit of wishful thinking, but who knows ....

Hurt just a little
Cry just a little
And let the little things go.
Life is a river
Frozen in the winter
Lost beneath the snow.
But life still grows...
Before you know...
Spring will come
With the rising sun
And you will feel the glow!

Learn just a little
Try just a little
And let the little things go.
Life is a journey
Don’t be in a hurry
And let a little love show.
This life will grow...
Before you know...
A storm will come
With the setting sun
And you will feel the blow!

Hope just a little
Smile just a little
And let a little light show.
Life is a tunnel
We all start to stumble
When the darkness grows.
But don’t let go...
I’m here you know...
The stars will shine
And you’ll be just fine
Cause I’m not letting go!

Hurt just a little
Cry just a little
And let the little things go.

What if you felt no more shame
Imagine that

What if you just loved yourself
The way you are
Imagine that

What if you forgave yourself
Imagine that

I hope you are kind enough
To let yourself
Imagine that

Terrible times call for
Bravery
But to be brave
You don’t need to face terrible times
You just
Need to open your eyes on another day

Two years ago
I joined this page
I don’t even know what to say
I’ve written thousands of poems
Since that day
Getting better and better
Along the way...
Thank you all
For your love and support
Each and every single day
Here’s to many more
Writing up to five poems a day
Maybe I’ll get recognized someday
For my work of encouragement
One of these days...
