Summer
it's 5 a.m.

you’re tired ,

that's the only time

you seem to want me.

whether it's alone

in your bedroom

under the sheets

or it's with your friends

in a crowded cafe,

it's only when you’re tired.

when you’re awake,

you won't put your lips on my edges.

you’re too busy touching over lovers,

rummaging through papers,

calling your friends,

laughing.

you seem to forget who woke you up.

who made you warm.

and tomorrow you will be tired again

and i will still let you

put your lips

on my edges

though i know

when you're awake

you won't need me.

but

my heart is bigger

than my head.

i am

so so warm,

and you are

so so cold.

cold enough to use me.

i - warm enough to not care.

because

you are so much happier

when

you’re awake.

Dead leaves

Dead leaves, a dying tree;
silent in a tattered hat,
pausing in his quiet task,
reading poems of T.E. Hulme.
T.E. Hulme (1883 - 1917) heavily influenced Imagist poetry and modernism in the early twentieth century. One of the zeitgeist, only six of his poems were published during his short life.  Killed in battle near Flanders in 1917, he is buried in the Koksijde Military Cemetery, Belgium.

His headstone carries the inscription: “One of the War Poets”.
You are my coffee
Not just in the morning
You keep me awake even at night
With thought of you that's never ending
Thank you for chosing this piece for the Daily.  This is my first so I am so happy, grateful and more inspired to write.
When there seems
no progressive road
the past
savage
cruel
light finds you
the way out
whispers
the door awaits
