My mother made me a man giving me everything that she can
All her wisdom and all her help, teaching me what there is to live for
Taking care of me from the time that I was born to now that I’ m full grown
No matter how old my mother gets she still sees the child in me that she’ll never forget
She’s a disguised angel with hidden wings
I can only return all the love that my mother gave
I know in my heart my mother will do anything for me so long as her heart still beats
I have no other, I’ m blessed and gifted that I have her as a mother

I tie my eyes to the skies
When the wind screams so close
So far away
everyday a cast of millions
Only lonely drops of rain
Reaching for an ocean

Let me sink
Don't let me swim
Let me find an empty end
When the wind that brings the storm
Makes me smile
When the storm on the horizon
Screams my fate
And I'll be put into the ground
For once
For good

I'll feel much better
When I feel not at all
When the rain becomes my flood
And nothings left to fall
This storm that was my enemy
becomes me

Sometimes I’m stupid
Sometimes I’m dumb
Sometimes my brain
Is a little too numb

Sometimes I listen
Sometimes I hear
Sometimes I frown
When it’s not very clear

Sometimes I speak
Sometimes I say
Sometimes the words
Seem to get in the way

Sometimes I run
Sometimes I hide
Sometimes I lock
All my feelings inside

Sometimes I hope
Sometimes I dream
Sometimes I reach
If you know what I mean

Sometimes I give
Sometimes I take
Sometimes I feel
Like I’m ready to break

Sometimes I write
Sometimes it’s art
Sometimes my poems
Will touch her heart

Sometimes I smile
Sometimes I cry
Sometimes I worry
And I don’t know why

Sometimes I think
Sometimes I do
But always I know
I'm in love with you

Eternally true
Forever you’ll see
It’s never sometimes
When it is you and me

It was a dark night
When she told a story of her fight
She spoke the coldest words I've ever known
Her feet blistered from the road
Knuckles torn apart from using all her might
Shreds hung from her clothes
As her icy story was told
She drove me up and down the hills
She showed me where she defeated it
And smiled as she said now leave your fear
As I looked back at her I realized I was talking to the mirror

lazily lost
to crony capitalism
corporate cobwebs
hunger
unsatisfied
first come served
rich get richer
walls get bigger
the river deeper
the gap is wider
the poor get
poorer
the black get blacker
the rift grows wider
the police get narrower
shootings
more common
more people dying
politicians
appear more frequent
on the TV
and nothing gets better
solved
are the next elections
nothing more
You're a silver-lined cloud on a bleak and dreary day
You're the invisible force standing in my way

You're a mockingbird's song on a clear summer night
You're the hot tears shed from a too-bright light

You're the solitary thing that I cannot live without
You're the cruel temptation of an impossible route

You're these words that I write, all coming out wrong
You're the inspiration that has taken far too long
in the first race at Newcastle
the favourite got a hiding
other horses in the field ran to
the beat of solid riding

from the get go the favourite
was placed under the gun
he used up too much petrol
in the fast paced run

punters were furious
with the jockey in the pigskin
for he was supposed to pilot
the horse to a glorious win

at the start of the race
he applied too much speed
to stay in touch with the horses
who were out in the lead

when the field got between
the six and seven hundred meter pegs
it was apparent that the favourite
had no power left in his four legs

though he ran close to the inside rail
throughout the whole race
his performance turned out to be
a trainer's nightmarish disgrace

the jockey was given strict riding
instructions before the event
hold a steady clip and save
the horse from becoming too spent

but alas the race plan went
terribly awry and well off course
which ensured that the conquest
was obtained by another horse
