Static suicide

Last night I dreamt I committed suicide;
and it wasn't beautiful or poetic
it simply was yet another death.
I felt boneless and dizzy as I awoke on the dawn
of yet another day.
The sun shone through cracks in my window but
relief never came of not having that dream real.

Last night I forgot to sleep, I forgot to feel;
and I didn't toss around my bed but laid
as a corpse does in his casket.
I felt numb and yet somehow disappointed
of not having someone to scare away this beast.
This beast that clings to my body like a second skin,
this beast which eats away my sun,
this beast that grows with the ennui of life,
this beast which spits on raw wounds of my flesh.
It keeps me caged, keeps me inside,
belittling me and snickering just when I have managed
to get a foot out the door-
so I step back in and close it firmly shut.

Last night I prayed to anyone who would listen
and it was poignant and pathetic because
I awoke to another bright day of laughter from my peers
and I could do nothing but stare from a faraway place
with white noise stuck in my head.
Thank you for the title!
Anyway, I found this on my old notebook as I cleaned my old binders. I didn't really feel like editing it because it is such a raw representation of my time dealing with depression and well, yeah.
Also, if you are going through this seek help and know you are not alone. This is a serious illness and do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

I remember the warm nights
The silent drives
The laughs
But not the cries
I wasn't there
You wouldn't let me
Too scared
You had to protect me
So let me,
Take your hand again.
We'll drive somewhere new
You can tell me of.
Let's not focus on the date,
And time ticking away.
Until the storms return,
We'll pray during our infamous
Hydroplane.
That our breaks don't fail us.
If they do, I'll crash with you.
I spelled them wrong on purpose

Her heart beats
for acceptance
Tears fill her eyes
as she realizes
That she still shuns herself
Her time is not now
Her heart has not bloomed
Slowly she turns away
Knowing this day
Loneliness embodies
her heart and soul

I like to walk the bridge at sunset.
I like the feeling of the
Light autumn breeze on my face
As my calves burn,
Pacing myself for the
Two-mile-long journey.
I like the colors the skyline makes,
The soft periwinkle that fades
To turquoise, that
Transitions to a pastel yellow
And drips down into a warm
Scarlett.
I like the art
The city buildings paint against
The sunset.
I like the peacefulness,
Steadiness,
Tranquility in the river,
Its current rippling
Gently in rhythm
With the steady beating of
My half-broken heart.
I like the way my heart has begun
To mend itself,
Once shattered to a million
Itty bitty
Pieces,
It strings itself back together
With every walk,
Every step
Across the bridge,
Across state lines.
Sometimes I'm surrounded
By crowds,
Other times
It's rather calm;
But the faces, regardless of bounty,
Are lost on me
As I lose myself
Deep in thought,
In reflection,
In an attempt to
Forget you
And remember me
As only myself,
Before you and
After.
Day by day,
Step by step,
Sunset after sunset,
Ripple after ripple,
Autumn breeze by autumn breeze,
My senses are heightened,
One by one,
My pain is relinquished,
Little by little,
And my broken heart is mended,
Bit by bit.
