Near a river blue and clear
Birds chirping is all I hear
Sitting on a grassy hill
Chicken cooking on the grill
My family is there
We all sit in a square
We share the food equally
And have the food peacefully
Then we have a treat
Which is really sweet
At the end of the day
We all drove away
~29/3/21
I decided to write something more lighthearted today ^-^
Chipped and cracked
Old and worn
Yet you are still my favourite
Old things have more sentimental value than new ones, almost the same with people.

remember that a glowstick has to
break and be twisted
before it can glow
My life is so beautiful
And I wrap myself in your warmth
To keep safe and warm
From the coronavirus storm
And I'm nestled in your heart
Because it's my perfect refuge.
True Love ❤️😘❤️😘
Younger wanting to be older
Older wanting to be young
Child wishing to be bigger
Bigger wishing to be thinner

Teen wanting a clearer face
Clearer face wanting a better body
People lamenting bad hair days
Bad hair days replaced with no hair days. . .

We diss what we have
Wish for what we lack
When what we have is gone
Oh, what we'd give to have it back!

Youthful desires for future yearning
Future bearing down like a train
Elders' memories of past unnerving
Hit by a train never the same

10/6/2020 - Poetry form: Free Verse - Seems like we're never satisfied. If you're an adolescent you want to be an adult. If you're older you want to be younger. And on and on and on. Why can't we just be content and enjoy what we have at any given time? - Mark Toney © 2020
