A Redtail Hawk
Perches the high tree
A barren branch
So she can see
I wonder what
She thinks of me...
Does she know
I'm also free?

She lets loose cries
So sharp & clear
She has no
Melody to hear
Just urgent need
For meat to tear
She has young
To feed & rear.

She's not prone
To ponder. Think.
She acts upon
Pure instinct
To swoop down
Upon her prey
So her young
Will eat today.

Human beings are
Burdened. Bound.
We are tethered
To the ground
Though flight machines
Are built... abound
We still have to
Fly in steel
To the hawk
There's no appeal.

We won't spread
Our wings & fly
From the earth
We view the sky
On this earth
For now we'll be
Only hawks
Perch in high trees.

Here we are
This is life
War around us
Pain and strife

In the trenches
We won't last

By mustard gas

High gloss lips

Rhino virus in my flesh
My right knee has bursitis
Aching body, stuffy head
Hip to toe arthritis!

I've been slowly going deaf
Bad teeth in my mouth
I'm a "Rice Krispies" critter
My plumbing's going south!

I need a new body!
NOT the one I own!
I've dry-rot in my muscles
And acid in the bone!

What CAN make me joyous
When I'm in such pain?
Who is my umbrella
While I'm dancing in the rain?
I think you know the answer
But I'll repeat again...

Don't find it strange I'm happy!
No, don't find it odd!
I have a gracious Savior...

Jesus Christ's my God!

How can I describe
A night like this?
The exquisite joy?
The heav'nly bliss?
Jesus bent down
With a kiss!
I wonder now
How I could miss
The blessings coming
With this rest!

Wrapped within
His loving arms
Kept, protected
From alarms
Yes, in the Rock
And safe from harm

To this church
God had me brought
I never knew
How hard I'd fought
No I never
Gave much thought
But deliverance
Is what I sought!

I now know
And I agree
I was blind,
but now I see!!
My enemy was
Really ME!
But, at last,

I'VE BEEN SET FREE!!!
