I finally broke down every wall for You

And you picked up every single stone
Just to throw it back at me.........

Whenever I look into the clouds
I know your always there looking down on me

Whenever I feel the wind on my back
I know your always there blowing by me

Whenever I feel the warmth of the sun on my face
I know your always there shining on me

Whenever I sing to myself in the car
I know your always there singing with me

Whenever I need you
I know your always there beside me

To my love Brianna Kemper happy birthday
You will always be missed but I know your always there with all of us who need you

How beautiful
to hear a hurricane
so gently
whisper verses
that a butterfly
might listen—
and how much more
beautiful
to hear a butterfly
rage
fierce
and open eyed,
stirring an ocean
to frenzy.

I saw you first,
as shadows do, afloat
in the churning of stars.

As stage lights poured out
over that dark sea of strangers,
awash in ruckus blooms
of color, a thousand

souls flew like banners
around us, and you
were the wind that swept the world
from stillness.

The first time
you ever turned away from me,
I could feel my gaze
smear across your cheek

like a hand against a mirror,
transfixed
by my own reflection.

Then, you looked—
God, those eyes!

sleepy, as if waking to a dream,
pillowed against the glow
of your amber skin.

As you tipped your light
like a cup against my lips,
my heart fell beneath its weight

and there, like the moon
turns the sun upon the earth,
your waxing crescent rose

against the cosmos and all
those endless fires paled in your presence

as you stood carving me perfectly
from the sky.
You were a sold out music hall
And I was just a record on your wall

And I'd turn and turn and hope that you would sing along
While you played symphonies for us all
Say my name
Say it gently
Use your words
To caress me
Speak your thoughts
Speak them out loud
Confess your love
Amidst the crowd
Scream your wishes
Scream your dreams
Make your reality
Better than it seems
Whisper your pain
Whisper your fears
Release the tension
Wipe away your tears
Open your mind
Open up wide
Let my love in
Let me inside

Are your midnight property.
Curl your drunken palms
between her thighs
with no concern
that the heat inside is broken
and the pipes have been frozen.
Whisper to her
that her smile is genuine,
and that she is too cute
even though she doesn't try.
Then freely run your fingers
over the naked small of her back-
ignoring that she shivers
to the warmth of your touch.
At midnight,
she is nothing but a compost
of indecent pink lines
of those who have raked her back before.

If you were the sky
Then I'd be the sea
And when you shined bright
It would reflect in me.
When you're at rest
Then I am steady.
If you wanna get rough
I'm always ready.
Past closing at the bars
If you show me the stars
I'll open right up
And cast them out far.
And on the darkest night
If you won't shine a light.
Then I'm silent alongside you
Until you feel right.
We'll meet at the horizon
Where lovers will stare
And wonder with passion
Why they can't meet there.
And you'll share me a kiss
As bright as two suns.
When they meet in the middle
I'll know the days done.
And I can tell that's your way of saying to me.
Goodnight my love.
If you were the sky and I were the sea.

The South wind said to the palms:
My lovers sing me psalms;
But are they as warm as those
That Laylah's lover knows?

The North wind said to the firs:
I have my worshippers;
But are they as keen as hers?

The East wind said to the cedars:
My friends are no seceders;
But is their faith to me
As firm as his faith must be?

The West wind said to the yews:
My children are pure as dews;
But what of her lover's muse?

So to spite the summer weather
The four winds howled together.

But a great Voice from above
Cried: What do you know of love?

Do you think all nature worth
The littlest life upon earth?

I made the germ and the ant,
The tiger and elephant.

In the least of these there is more
Than your elemental war.

And the lovers whom ye slight
Are precious in my sight.

Peace to your mischief-brewing!
I love to watch their wooing.

Of all this Laylah heard
Never a word.

She lay beneath the trees
With her lover at her knees.

He sang of God above
And of love.

She lay at his side
Well satisfied,

And at set of sun
They were one.

Before they slept her pure smile curled;
"God bless all lovers in the World!"

And so say I the self-same word;
Nor doubt God heard.
