The last time that you held me
I could feel the ticking time.
Now I’ll only have the memories
In melodies and rhyme.
The last time that you kissed me,
A tear dripped from my eye
For the ever fleeting moments
Leading up to our goodbye.

Above all,
God is an artist,
and His greatest
creation is us.
We are made in
His image, and so
we create.
Our creations pale
in comparison to
the sunset, the mountains,
and the oceans;
but we try.
And sometimes, we succeed.
And it is good,
and He is well pleased.
If you plan to go,
Go with everything.
Leave nothing
That I can wallow in,
Leave nothing
Worth remembering
Leave only with the knowledge that I
Loved you more than all the stars in the sky

Brain brain, go away

Don't sabotage another day

I've stumbled much, yet I still try

Please let me live, before I die
My brain is my biggest enemy.

You ever notice that
the stars spell your name wrong
Or how clouds never
sculpt your eyes right?
That birthmark you hide
from the world is gone
In this Moon's light

The Sun never captures
your face as you wake
The wind merely
whispers your song
Nature is perfect
in almost every way
But she always gets you wrong
Calling all ears
all guts and sneers
every daft-deft writer who would be
poet

Write your soul, your boots
your fight, your fears,
your misbegotten loves
tucked behind your ears

Roll with punches,
belch and rattle at your stars
as they are truly indifferent
gaseous, asinine orbs

Pull rank on the nothing
my lovely, living friends
as your truth is beginnings and ends
and I love you

 Sep 2021 My Dear Poet
Zoe Mae
Tried to rest my poet brain
Laid on a pillow, and let it drain
Drain it did, oozed out my ears
ran down my legs and disappeared
Now my head is filled with air
Not a single original thought dwells there
I have not one vivid revelation to share
And quite frankly, I don't care
