Galileo looked
Up towards the ageing stars
Timeless in wisdom.

©️Lizzie Bevis
I was looking up at the stars thinking about all of the amazing things we have learnt over the centuries about the great and mesmerising cosmos - then this little gem came to me.
Enjoy :)

I need help
so I yell and I scream at them
until my lungs give up
and my heart gives out.
silently wishing, hoping
they’ll understand that
I’m not a terrible person.
I’m just hurting

I need help
so I etch the pain into my skin
pleading, begging, praying
for someone to notice the glaring welts

I need help
so I skip one meal
then three
make a chart for the weights
and the calories
waiting to reach the impossible goal

I need help
but I shake in my seat
suffocating in my own lungs
tumbling out of control
I grip my seat so tight my knuckles turn white
wait until
my breath hitches,
my breathing stops
Please don’t read this if you’re in a bad headspace

You ask me why I look so pale
I laugh and say
"I never leave my room"
But I can't tell you the truth
That I lost alot of blood last night

You laugh because
I fell asleep
In the living room
Which is something
I never do
I wake up and laugh along
Hiding from you
That I lost alot of blood last night

I sleep through the afternoon
And daze myself through the day
Half aware and half awake

Because I lost
Alot of blood
Last night

gasp,

gaps,

my memory,

why is everything so fuzzy,

disoriented,

my vision...

tell me,

tell me now,

TELL ME-

TELL ME NOW-

WHY WON'T YOU TELL ME-

why won't you tell me what happened?

what happened...

what...

you.

YOU.

no...

no. no.

no.no.nononononoon....

NO.

this wasn't supposed to be,

this way.

WHY?

-WHY ME?
i feel too much right now

Let me ask you a question:

If a room is dark
And you turn on a light
Is the room still dark?

Everyone I ask
Tells me it's now light
But they're assuming
That lightness
Overweighs the darkness

What if the darkness
Is just too strong?
What if the light
Is too dim?
A nightlight of sorts
In a big forest

Or maybe
Both answers are right
And it just depends where you draw the line
What do you think?

Silent Screams
In my head
My heart
My mind
My bones
Almost constantly

They’re quiet enough
That while standing right next to me
You hear nothing
But loud enough
That it’s all I can hear

There are very few
That listen to them
And more so
Understand them
Maybe even have their own

I know most
Don't hear them
Through the walls,
Through the bathroom stalls
Or at all

But they are so loud to me
That sometimes
All I can do
Is sit there
Tears rolling down my cheeks
Begging the monsters
(or maybe just me?)
To calm down
(this note was written by a roof you don't even know is over your head. You fear when it rains you'll get wet.)
i saw a little robin sitting in the snow
showing of red breast that almost seem to glow
then he began to sing in the snow so white
a lovely a melody happy and so bright

he sat there a while i listened to him sing
joy to my heart the robin seem to bring
every note in tune not one out of key
i wont forget that day the robin sang to me

it will stay forever in my memory
a part of me for ever  his song will always be

Even the brightest stars
Will explode
One day

Even the sky
Needs to scream and cry
Sometimes

Even the most beautiful poem
Will one day be forgotten
Even if that's
When we reach oblivion

You're allowed too
Don't feel bad
I need to remember that, maybe you do too.
