One morning at sunrise,
I walked the beach
Looking for shells.

High on the bank,
Where no wave could reach,
An old man watched intently.

After a while
He gestured with his hand,
Calling me to him.

"You have many lives to live,"
He said (in a strange accent)
As he picked up a handful of sand
And let it run back to the ground
Through his fingers.

"That's a lot of lives", I said,
Watching the last of it fall
And trying not to look afraid.

"Not the sand in my hand," he said,
"The sand on the beach."
He extended his arms,
Raised his eyes,
Then vanished
Before I could speak.

As the autumn leaves whirl around
I sit quietly listening to the sound
And look outside, struck by what I've found
The beauty that surrounds

Now fall is not my favorite time of year
Christmas is, and for good cheer
I get to spoil my kids, and my dear
And love abounds

I love my husband and he loves me
There's no arguing, we live happily
I'm awestruck everyday by what I feel and see
Like his queen, I was crowned

So as I'm faced with autumn, and the cold
I'll surround myself with love and beauty untold
I have my love and he has me to hold
As the leaves fall all around
For my love

I dream of confessions of love
Your face
And your hands on my waist
You are soft in my dreams
Vulnerable
You tell me that it’s all been a farce
That you really love me
And you were scared
Scared of the oceans you feel for me
But I am forced awake
And the darkness in my room laughs
Because we’ve been here before
It knows this story
My brain is my downfall
It’s rosy colored hues
And romanticized ideals
Not talking
Means not wanting
And ignoring
Definitely doesn’t translate to I love you
Life isn’t a romance novel

This hole in my heart,
Where you use to be,
Been falling apart,
Wishing you're here with me,
Longing for your touch,
My heart gave you the key,
Missing your presence,
Why cant you see,
We belong together,
As a loving family,
But all you want
Is to be free.

I'm not sure how to tell you this
While you sleep without my touch,
While you sleep not knowing my kiss,
I close my eyes and it's you I'm with.
There is no grand gesture I crave,
No exaggeration I have let my mind slip
Just the chance to part your hair from your forehead.
The thought leaves me a slave to you
With ropes I allow to be knotted through.

You once asked me to describe your soul,
Like poker, I took my cards to fold.
Words weren't created in your favor,
They put a standard to your features,
Masked beauty by insecurity to come later.
But if your soul could ever find a home,
In me, I would hold and never let go.
I could never describe it though,
The light it would show could swallow me whole.

I'm not sure if I have words that can sit
In a place next to your being
To compliment would be to criticize
The words coming out of my mouth  fleeting
Like my heart, fast-paced beating
In a moment to hold your attention,
Your gaze, your hand, your body.
I would take hold of whatever you allowed me.

Bleeding with my deco
Vibrant lights glow

Halo bright though
Pictured with the rifle
Riding cycle
Know my type dope
Roll a tulip
Breathing dragons

You’ve seen me through so many things
And now you can ask me anything
Flip through the poems
The questions you’ve had will finally be answered
Ask me
And I’ll tell you the truth
