The ravages of time

Keep him to me close
Dailiness not the Sublime
To sleep perchance to dream
He and I and I'm ....

as i writhe
in the devil’s grasp
and the eternal
flames of tarnation

from the depths
of my obsidian heart
lord, grant this sinner
her salvation

should i be tried
in the court of god
my only crime
was to live this life

and shall at last
the verdict comes
i’ll embrace the abyss
with open arms.

perspective is the taste and smell and feelings of current events seasoned with memories
so
no one eats the same cake

Sea winds throw each care
take each heavy form and toss it in the air like it was light
give me brief respite from all that weighs me down,
send it soaring out of sight beyond my knowing
set my mental laundry blowing, and refresh my head,
far too much is laying in the middle of my bed
and piled upon the floor,
open all my windows, wedge the dusty door
and pin the shutters to the side
dear ocean fling them, sling them from me far and wide

I sighed in the presence of a friend.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Life."  

"Hadn't you rather be thinking about your death?"
